[ARCHIVED THREAD] - GSG 1911 Main Spring Housing Replacement question

Just bought a GSG 1911. All my 1911’s have the flat main spring housing. Since the magazine safety is incorporated in the arched MSH, can I still swap it out for a flat style?

Yes, no problem, unless you want the mag safety for some unknown reason.

I dumped mine when I changed out the MSH. One thing I learned is the internals from the old one fit just fine. The retention pin in the GSG one did not work on the Ed Brown i replaced it with. Of course they dont come with any pins. Just a FYI. I do like the straight feel better than the one that came with it.

I replaced mine with a Colt GI from Ebay. No more mag safety.

As usual, I had to file for fitment.

The Ed Brown one with mag shute on it was a straight drop in. I was shocked.

I used a nighthawk one and it dropped in with no fitting as well.

I like the comp. It seems like it may have had an effect on the cheap rounds that ran through it before. It is going to the range tomorrow and see how the comp is with straight mini mags.
