Hey guys,

I was browsing one of the local gun/pawn shops this afternoon when I noticed a used stainless GSR sitting in the case. It is almost identical to this one, except that is has "Revolution" etched/engraved below the ejection port:

The sales guy said that it was used, but unfired, and a quick glance at the chamber supports that. However, I noticed what looked some corrosion on the frame (either side of the grip safety, as well as near the trigger on the right side, so it's probably from sweat that was not cleaned off?). I wish I had taken a picture, but it looked like black "grime", but wouldn't scrape off with a fingernail. They wanted $850 OTD, as they had been sitting on it for a while (tag said $950), but I feel like that's a little high, given the condition; what do you guys think? Also, do you think that the corrosion could be removed without need to refinish the frame, and what would be the best way to go about doing so? Thanks!

I don't have any first-hand experience so take this with a grain of salt.  I've heard that the 'manhole cover' models had some misses in the quality department.  It seems there were more unhappy customers than happy ones.  That price doesn't look much better than a new model either.

if it is a Revolution...that is newer than just the GSR and may not (in all likelihood) still have the manhole cover (that was part of the Revolution :D)...mine is a 2006 model GSR Revolution STX and it is very nice...very little MiM if any (if that's important to you)...good luck...

About two years ago, I bought a used GSR that looks identical to your picture.  I paid $650 for it.  It has been a flawless pistol and I have been very happy with it.
Are you by any chance active or retired military, police, firefighter, EMT, corrections, etc.?  If you are, you can buy that pistol new for less than what they're asking for a used one.

I was able to buy a new Sig 1911 Carry in stainless the past August from the Florida Gun Exchange for $719 + tax. Their prices are the lowest I've found on the Sig 1911 design.
