I got my Gen 4 G19 and it came with 4 sets of back straps. It feels good without it, which is a shame because it came with 2 beaver tails. I wonder how the gun would feel if I cut down a beaver tail grip. I think I'll go do it, post pictures and see how it feels.

this is cool...interesting Idea.... I personally prefer the medium Beaver-tailed backstrap, but thats because the stock grip is slightly too small for my hands... I agree with the Epoxy idea, and a little sanding, but go easy with it, cause too much sanding will be a difficult task, unless you dont care about ruining the rest of the grip... ie, use little enough that you could probably get the sanding done with a finger nail file... good luck!

...or just buy a Grip Force Adapter? They're only about $25-30. Nah just trying to be creative lol. Attempt #2 turned out very good. It needs a little touching up and isn't noticeable in person., but it saves you $25-$30 easily.. http://www.imageshack.com/scaled/large/69/gba7.jpg http://www.imageshack.com/scaled/large/23/lusi.jpg http://www.imageshack.com/scaled/large/17/0vcb.jpg I'm happy with this. |

came out nice OP Thanks Honestly in regards to grip force the reviews seemed hit or a miss. I knew there wouldn't be fitment issues on a factory back strap. So that's why I wanted to make this work so bad. I'll be sure to give a range report once I get my night sights installed. |

I've been thinking about this. I just got my first full sized gen4 (I've had a 26 for awhile), and the medium back strap is throwing me off a bit.
As to the guy who said to buy a GFA, the factory ones fit up top much better, and allowed me to continue to shoot in SSP. The GFA bumps you into ESP. |

If they want to be picky, a chopped backstrap is still a "modified" grip, so it shouldn't be legal for SSP if the GFA isn't. Personally I don't really give a shit. I shoot IDPA for the practice, not for to play the game. If they made me shoot ESP because of the GFA, I'd just shoot ESP. Honestly they need to make GFAs SSP legal though. It's no different than using any other interchangeable backstrap. |

I asked our match director for our state championship about my backstrap mod for SSP and this is what he said.
"8.2.1.3.16. Stippling and texturing may be performed on readily replaceable parts of the grip frame such as replaceable back straps and replaceable grip panels. But, there is also this rule, which would prevent you from modifying the backstrap in any way other than stippling or texturing: 8.2.1.4.1. Externally visible modifications other than those listed in the Permitted Modifications section. While I suspect that you could "get away with" your modification, I'd say shortening the factory part violates 8.2.1.4.1." |
