Who here, that lives/lived in Georgia, CCW in a gun store? The law that used to state that any place that had signage not to carry was illegal to do so in is no longer on the books. I do it, because it is legal to do so. It is not out of any disrespect to Gun Shop workers or owners by not following the signage, but, seeing as how Gun Stores are robbed all the time(no proof, just a guess) I would not want to be unarmed if it were to be robbed and the workers did not immediately neutralize the threat(s). ![]() |
I don't specifically remember GA statutes(I should, since I'm 30 miles away from the damn state ), but IIRC, signage does not equal law. I understand the reason behind the posting of gun stores. Every yahoo with a pistol feels the need to whip out his piece to show something about it or how well it's concealed or his holster, etc. It tends to make people have bad days, and those are the same morons that wind up putting a slug into the back wall. I do, however, prefer what some gun stores are doing now, namely "We don't want to see your gun" signage, meaning you can carry, but that's all you're doing is carrying. No showing off or pulling it out or anything of the sort. |

my local gun store just has the "CCW holders, please do not unholster your weapon inside the store" signs placed throughout the store. i know of a couple of other local stores that have signage out front that say "no firearms allowed inside," i figure, if they can't see it, it shouldn't bother them. if the law does not prohibit me from carrying inside these establishments, then neither will the employees. |

The one near me has a law about all firearms being unloaded. It's not a TX 30.06 sign and isn't intended to be; they've told me they don't mind me packing, but they know me pretty well there. |
