Looking to pickup a 1911. I am interested in a nice accurate more of a target type pistol than a GI micro sight or carry gun.
I am looking at the following: Kimber Custom Target II Springfield Loaded Target Colt O1070RG XSE Springfield Range Officer Each seems to have good points, the SRO supposedly has many of the same design elements as the TRP models. The pistols above range from about $710-$900 it seems. Any others I should consider, any I should cut out of my list? Ambi safety would be ideal but I am used to dealing without. Thanks |

Sigs target model
Sti spartan or trojan Also check out Dawson's CRP package with the range officer. For 100 bucks you get a magwell, fiber optic front site, bigger mag release, and sometimes for another 200 they offer a tuning package where they do a trigger job, fit everything, sight it in etc. |

I've got a Springfield Mil-Spec new in early 2011, my first since shooting one in the Army in the 60's. I was so impressed with it (not a single miss-feed in over 3K rds and it eats anything) that when my son lusted over it, I gave it to him and got a new Springfield Range Officer for myself. I like it even better. The trigger and sights make for a great range gun. While not a bullseye shooter, I like to shoot at reactive targets from 50-80 yds or so with it. It's as reliable as could be and shoots like a dream. Definitely a great buy at the current going prices. |

I have a Kimber SS Custom Target II in both 45 and 9MM. They have been excellent with 10,000 rounds fired thru each. I have two Kimber stainless target II's both are in 9mm and are two nice pistols(which I have turned into series I's).......Of the choices you have I would go kimber then springfield(loaded then RO) |
