I am wondering if anyone is aware of any Police Department / LEO that issues the G19 as a duty weapon. I know of several that issue the G17, but comparing them side to side I hesitate to call the G19 "compact" other than the fact it's simply a bit smaller than the 17.

I know at one time, NYPD issued them.  I don't know if they still do.  Also, the South Carolina Highway Patrol issued the 23.  I think they were the first to adopt it when it came out.

The NYPD still issues them.  I was told, when they were "testing" them, NYC Transit Police (pre hostile takeover) issued some Glock 17's, but now we all get a Glock 19 as a choice (Glock, Sig, or S&W).

Actually there were two failures ( mostly officer error ) but it was "management" who chose to go with H&Ks.

I think DC was or is using them along with G17s.  I think you get whatever fits your hand.  The County I live in uses the G21 and G30, which ever the officer likes better.

Portsmouth (Virginia) Police use Glock 17s.  My neighbor just retired from the department and they let him keep his G17, 1st generation, that he carried since 1987 or something like that!
