I might buy a new G19 gen 4 next weekend, and I need to know if they’ve solved the weak ejection issue. Everything I can find on Google is dated, so I’d like to get the most updated info from those of you here who may have followed the issue. I understand that the 19s had problems with recoil springs and ejectors, which caused weak ejections, FTEs, and brass lunch. Have they fully solved this problem, and has enough time gone buy that if I buy a new one at the gun show, it will have fully updated parts? The most recent forum post I read about the problem was exactly one year ago, and the guy claims that he had all the updated parts but was still having problems.
I’m sure some of you are wondering why I don’t just buy a gen 3. I’m most interested in the reduced grip and the grip texture of the gen 4. So if you guys have a moment, have they solved it? Thanks. |

One thing to understand is that the ejection issues were not limited to Gen4s. The new production Gen3s were having the same problems. They came out with new recoil springs for the Gen4 9mms and new ejectors for Gen3 and Gen4 9mms. They seem to have improved things. My Gen4 17 was built in summer 2013 (has all the latest parts) and runs flawlessly. I notice that the ejection is stronger with hotter defensive loads. But even with the weak Winchester FMJ, its not hitting me in the face. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a gun produced in the last year or so. But I would be careful if looking on the used market...you may end up buying one that was made when the issues were more prevalent. |

Glad to hear that. Thanks guys, I'll be picking one up then. Why do you guys think they suddenly needed a new ejector design when they used to work so well? Bc they started playing around with MIM internal parts and things like the RSA. Glock went on some cost cutting crusade and ended up changing minor details in the function of the gun. Then it came down to trial and error. |
| Having gone through BTF with both old and new ejectors and reading up on it quite a bit when it was at it's peak, I don't think the ejector was the issue. The 336 ejector was used successfully for years. There is a theory that there were slides with out of spec extractor cuts. Interestingly, I had an early 2010 production 17 that ran fine. Just for curiousity's sake, I put a recent production extractor and a Lone Wolf extractor in it and immediately started having erratic ejection. |

Guys, can one of you guys that got a 19 that came new with the new extractor and have no brass to face problems, can you give me the first letter of your serial number? That way when I'm looking at the show I can avoid any old ones? Thanks. W is the most recent production. |

Read this thread and you be the judge. Granted, not A G19.

The 2005 runs fine, but the 2012 had major problem with BTF & weak erratic ejections. I solved it with a combination of the APEX extractor & 30274 ejector. Just to test, I switched the parts between the 2005 & the 2012. The 2012 still had problems & the 2005 still ran fine. So, I agree that there is more to the problem than the extractor & ejector. |
| Ihave a gen 3 G36 Most glocks have had FTE and brass to the face problems gen3 and 4. I have found by replaceing every part in the eject and extract sequence that there are 2 problems. 1 is the extractors are no longer milled but cast so some file work is required also- look at the shape and configuration of the SLB for your pistol. Glock changed some of their OEM SLB to save a penny and gave us this BS. Ive got a NON-LCI extractor and a NON-LCI 10/45 SLB ( this OEM part is olive and was the original SLB for my G36) this SLB is not what glock gives for OEM on this pistol. The parts will be in this week I am sure they will solve this FTE and brass for lunch nonsense- I dont have 8 weeks to wait on glock for a repair on a new gun |
| Damn. I can't believe that Glock would put their reputation on the line like this. How expensive can a Glock be to produce? Perhaps customers would have preferred a $15 increase in price instead of ruining what was once considered the most reliable pistol ever. What a shame. |

There are some out there with issues, but most of them are fine. I have 3 gen 4s and 19 gen 3s, all of which have been practically flawless. The ONLY malfunction I've seen with any of them was when my grandfather (who is 75) limp wristed my gen 3 G23. It stove piped about 10% of the time for him, but it's never done it with me. I do have a friend with a gen 4 G19 that started off throwing brass into his right shoulder, but it sorted itself out after 500-1000 rounds. Even then, it never failed to cycle reliably. |
| There is a vast number of posts on more than a couple of forums that describe these FTE-BTH and out of battery failures, so these are NOT isolated cases but show how glock has cheaped out since Gaston got old. Ive had glocks since eatly ninety's, after Gen 2 problems came up-serious problems, if this is your CCW choice and it fails at a critical moment your in the crapper. So if your glock is flawless -great!- there a a lot that are not, plus the arrogance of smyrna and glock in general is a joke. After years with the " plastic pistol" after this g36 Im done with them. They are not doing me a favor by taking my$ they are just another vendor that has let profit overcome a good business model |

Well, I'll be picking one up tomorrow at the gun show. I'll be checking serial #s based on the information you guys provided, thanks for that.
I remember when a new Glock in smaller calibers could be had at the gun show for between $450 and $500. I doubt that's the case now. Anyone know what they are going for at gun shows these days? I guess I'll find out tomorrow, but you could help set my expectations a little. Thanks. |
| after reading several articles about your model they all said the same thing- constant FTE, BTF. Good luck with whatever you buy but dont buy anything with an LCI extractor- it gives most folks trouble no matter what series its stamped with. The only good thing here is you can change all the parts to NON-LCI just cause glock came out with it doesnt mean its gold, see www.thegunzone.com/glock/phase3.html read that. I like my 36 but ill buy a sig if it wont work |

Wholesale seems to be $519 on GEN4 G19s. I figure if you get out the door for 560 youre doing good. It was 500 not too long ago. Did they change it? My friend, whos a dealer said that was his cost. Which I guess I should add includes our PICS check and getting it to his shop. So it maybe/probably is 499 at his distributor. I guess I like to give that number to people so they can negotiate knowing what a dealer has in it. So you figure that, plus sales tax plus the poor guy has to eat. |

Paid $539 + tax for it today. The serial number starts with AA. Picked up 100rnds of Hornady Critical Duty 135gr +p to feed it. Going to Walmart now to see if they have any WWB and PDX1. Also picked up a Rossi stainless snubnose .357 because my wife thinks it was purdy. Thanks for all the help and advice guys. Stay informative. |

As far as i am concerned Glock is ruined. Never concider buying another due to weak ejection, and BTF on my Gen 4 21. They lost my money |

My G36 is in the U series and has an abysmal record of failure. On this forum alone there are specific post on " how to get rid of the LCI extractor" you should know if your weapons hot. Its one more unnecesary item to go wrong.Glock is like Walmart- an unreal number of lawsuits. And found guilty. And the staff in GA? why do you think they put it in the south?
