Considering both for CC. Anyone have experience with both, who could tell me which might be better. This will be my second handgun, I currently have a Browning Buckmark, which I really enjoy shooting. It is very accurate. I'm petite, with VERY very tiny hands, and I have held the Glock 19, and I like how it feels in my hand, but have never held the SA. I haven't shot either yet. I have shot a Glock 17, and it was actually the first gun I ever shot, and I got 8 out of 10 rounds in the 3in circle on my very first time ever shooting. I loved it so much, the next day I went out and bought the buckmark. Also, other than the Glock 19 and the SA X-D, any suggestions for a compact gun for tiny women? I held a Kahr, but even though it had the narrower grip, it didnt feel right in my hand, ironicaly. |

I have both (well my g/f has a subcompact XD and I have a Glock 19), the XD has a different grip angle than the Glock, it is "less angled." The trigger is lighter on the XD but to me the gun feels heavier, it has a "taller" slide and I think the barrel is mounted farther above your hand on the XD so you might feel more recoil. The finish on the XDs supposedly does not hold up that great, but I was told in a thread I started about the XD I bought that Springfield will refinish it with a better finish if the original finish starts to rust. The Sig 239 9mm is a smaller pistol, but it does have a double action/single action set up, unlike the striker fired Glock and XD-that means that the first shot requires a longer, heavier trigger pull and the remaining shots have a lighter, single action, trigger pull, some people have a problem getting the first double action shot to hit where the later single action shots hit. They are nice guns though from the little bit I have shot them. |

they are functionally equivalent. the Glock points like a revolver, with the wrist flexing down more. The XD points like a 1911, with the wrist in more of a neutral position. I prefer the XD, but only because I shoot alot of 1911. I sold my Glock 17 to buy my XD. But I would not feel undergunned with the Glock at all. So whatever points better for you. |
yes, i looked at the 26 and 19 at the same time, but i like the longer grip of the 19, the 26 is subcompact, and you can buy the mags with the extender at the bottom, but i just liked the feel of the 19 better. also, being shorter barrelled i figured recoil and accuracy would be compromised. like i said im very petite (5 ft, 100 lbs) and im stepping up from being used to a .22 the guy at the store suggested i rent both and see which one i liked better. i havent done that yet, but like i said i liked the feel of the 19 |

XD is $100 less XD has a suported chamber SA has some of the best customer service i have delt with XD has a better feel/grip angle (IMO) XD can downsize in caliber by replacing only the barrel XD has more safties GLOCK is a very good gun, some people say that an XD is a glock clone... yes and no. its more of a mix between a glock, sig, and 1911. all 3 are good guns and the XD takes the best attributes from each one. XDs are the hottest seller right now, so if you do get one get it now before the price goes up to what glocks are. all in all, you have to shoot both and see what you like personaly....everyone is different and everyone has their own oppinion. |

Both of my XDs are accurate pistols. Try the Glock and the XD and see what you think of each. I converted a guy from a Glock 34 to my XD. He was fairly accurate with the Glock but dead on with my XD. Not necessarily the gun but how the gun fit in the guys hands. The XD subcompact 9mm has little recoil. Its there, but very controllable. The service XD (4" barrel) has even less but of course is a larger pistol to try to conceal. I don't have any experience with the Kahr so I can't comment on it. |
Pretty much what he said. I sold a G30 when i got my XD, otherwise my experience has been the same. I greatly prefer the XD, but it's almost totally a personal preference thing. |
| I have both an XD9 Service and a G23 (the .40 G19). I bought the G23 specifically for carrying. I love my XD but can not conceal it as well as the G23. I'm a pretty small guy and the little bit of difference allowed me to carry the full frame handgun. I previously carried a G27, which I still have for the summer months. |
Big +1 I have the 26, the 19, the 19C and the 17. I love the 17 but carry the 19 'cause the size. The 26 is smaller but I don't feel comfortable with the small grip and don't like the recoil of the smaller pistol. Have you tried the 19 C? It is great, almost no recoil!! Great for target shooting. Not recommended in dark situations the flash can momentarily blind you. |

I own a xd9 now for when a 1911 isn't convenient and gave away a glock 23 because of the way the glock pointed. If the grip/angle were the same I'd go the glock, but they ain't. And yes to me it IS that important. Shoot both and see which points the best. good luck and report back |
I have huge hands, but the Sig 228 will probably feel better to you than the 19. The 228 length of pull is too tight for me, but I can shoot a 19 just fine, if that tells you anything. You can get an even SHORTER trigger for the 228. |

+1 here in houston XDs can go for 399+, whereas glocks will go for 500+. |
Here (Northern VA) the price is about the same for both. looks like about $450-500 |
when the XD first hit the market, it was a great gun at arount $310-320.. Now the prices have risen another $100-$150, and it really makes you have to think.. The Glock will always have a higher resale value.. |
|
I think you could be happy with either. I like the size, grip, resale value and spare parts available for the Glock. The XD could be just as reliable but I like the feel of my Glock 19 better. When I buy another polymer pistol it will be another Glock. Just my opinion. I would buy which ever one felt better in your hand. |

I have a couple of Glocks and a XD9 and XD40. In my opinion the XD has a more comfortable grip and does not have as long a reach to the the trigger as the Glock does. Those with small hands (I have large hands) usually find the XD easier to shoot. I've heard people say the XD is more like a 1911 grip. I have several 1911s and the grip on the XD is nothing like a 1911. The overall angle might be the same but the dimensions and configuration is completely different. A rather small woman I know who carries a concealed weapon carries a Kel-Tec P11. |
