I have a 1 month old Glock 22 .40 with a few questions that aren't really covered in the manual. So far I have put on Trijicon Green Ghost Ring Sights, extended slide and mag release.

1. I go to the range once a week and put 200 rounds of Winchester 180g. FMJ ammo through my gun, is this ammo a HOT Load? normal? and how many should I put through each week?

2. Cleaning, after the range I remove the slide, recoil spring and barrel. I spray the barrel in and out with M7 cleaner and run a bore snake through between sprays until the inside looks clean, also use an old soft toothbrush on the outside. Same with the slide, spray on the M7, use the toothbrush and cloths between sprays. Then I wipe it all down with a clean cloth, let it dry and apply lube in and out the barrel, down the slide and all the places according to the manual. Is this overkill? Do I have to do this every week? Or can I just clean the barrel and wipe down the slide surfaces?

I don't have a .40 calibler anything, so I can't really help you on the ammo, but I suspect that being FMJ, it is probably meant to be used as a practice round more than anything else, so is probably not loaded particularly hot.

As far as cleaning goes, I am fairly anal about cleaning my guns, but I really don't worry about getting my 19 "spic-n-span" by any means. I run a bore snake through it, do a half-assed job on the internals wherever a toothbrush will reach, and wipe the slide down. I'll finish up with a very light coat of Tetra gun grease on the slide rails, and I'm done. Cleaning my pistol now takes me all of one commercial break from whatever show I happen to be watching at the time, and the gun never fails to please. Glocks are truly the "AK" of the handgun world.

1. I'd put as many rounds as I can afford through it!

2. Sounds okay to me.  If it's a carry gun it is fine, however if it's a range gun you could probably put a lot more rounds through it before that thorough of a cleaning.  I usually wipe everything with a cloth and run a bore snake through the barrel, then lube up according to the manual and carry it.   Every couple hundred rounds, or every month or so I will do a complete tear down and clean, but it's still probably more than necessary.  It just depends on how much each gun gets carried and how sweaty/dirty it gets.

eta: I have a G22 and G27.  I carry both on duty, and most of the time just the G22 off duty (27 whenever I don't have the 22).

Yes, I would just wipe off the outside and clean it once a month. Also use the lube VERY sparingly, it takes very little maintance to keep the Glock running well.

I try to not oil the inside of my barrel on my glock.

Sounds like you're doing everything else right.  Just make sure you don't get any oil or solvents in the firing pin channel.  So when you spray it on make sure it won't run in there at all.  This will cause problems.

It's not really overkill, but I clean my guns after every range visit.  I usually get done shooting about midnight or 1am, so I sit with my neighbor upstairs in the clubhouse and we clean our guns there, since there's never anyone else there.

The 180gr .40 isn't a "hot" load at all.  You'll find that felt recoil is actually less than if you shot a 165gr .40.  Most 180gr .40's are subsonic, and the JHP's don't have a great reputation for expanding.  For carry use, stick with the 155-165gr .40 JHP's and you'll be fine.  But for range, shoot whatever is cheapest (as long as you use factory ammo in the original barrel, or buy a Lone Wolf barrel and save yourself the cost of the $90 barrel in less than a year for the amount you shoot).

I had a few G22's before, but I traded them both.  But just yesterday, I picked another one up.  This one came with a Lone Wolf barrel, which for the price I got it for was the main selling point, so I can shoot my cast bullet reloads safely.  In 9mm Glocks, it's not as much of an issue, but with the higher pressure of the .40's, an aftermarket barrel is definately worth the investment so you can shoot reloads/remanufactured ammo for $$ savings.  That way, you could be shooting twice as many rounds per week as you do now!

Thanks for the information on the ammo, I will now be getting another barrel so I can shoot some good reloads.

Yep! Sounds as though your doing everything right. I use the G22 as a duty weapon on the North Slope of AK. Pretty harsh enviroment. Glock does just fine with a little maintenance from week to week. Tetra is a good lube. I can keep my gun out exposed to the cold (-40 to -60) a little longer with it on the pistol.
Enjoy the G22!
