So my buddies Glock 22 had something happen to it at the range.. I have not seen it personally but he is telling me that the slide will not fully return forward.  A friend of his asked to see it and was trying to remove the slide, but did not know to fire it first and then remove the slide.  He fired it while the slide was partially forward.  At this point the slide itself came off and was dropped to the concrete.  He visually inspected the slide for damage and there was none.  When he went to put it back on it stuck a bit but they were able to get it on.  After that the trigger stayed in a depressed position, and now the slide will no longer go forward.  Any suggestions?  The Glock is 14 years old..

Any input is appreciated

Thanks

Tell him to find a local Glock Certified Armorer or gunsmith, or to call Glock and speak to the Warranty Service Department. If he calls Glock, they'll probably want him to send it back to them and they probably won't give him a prepaid shipping label. If he sends it back himself, it has to be Fedex or UPS next day/overnight and sent from a hub location declared as a firearm going back to the manufacturer for warranty work, that can be pretty expensive. A cheaper way to send it back would be to ask a local FFL dealer to send it back to Glock for him using USPS, whether they'll do it at all or how much they'll charge to do it can vary quite a bit. (only an FFL can send a firearm through USPS)

My first thought would be a bulged barrel, but it could be anything. You do have to be careful not to drop a Glock slide, the frame rails are pretty thin and susceptible to being bent inward and ruined if the slide is dropped. The same goes for the tang that the guide rod fits into.

It's junk. Tell him to send it to me. I'll even give him $5 for it.

He got the slide off said that inside the slide there appears to be some scrapes.  Said he cannot see if the slide is bent.  Gonna take the gun from him and bring it to my local glock dealer..see what they say about it.  Im starting to think its the slide myself but I have yet to actually see the gun.
