OK, I just scored a new Glock 30S today.  It's a gen 3.  The 30S is a 36 slide on a 30SF frame.  You cannot convert the mag release over to the right side for a lefty.  That is only doable on the Gen 4.  I can work with right handed weapons.  However, on the baby Glock's, when I get a good solid grip, I'm afraid I might accidentally depress the mag release.  My question for you Glock aficionados in here is can I take the gen. 3 36 slide and successfully mate it to a gen 4 30 frame?  That would be ideal.

Thanks.

There is no Gen 4 30S. There was speculation that they would come out with it but nothing concrete so far. As for interchanging slides, I don't think you can put a Gen 3 slide on a Gen 4 frame and vice versa but not 100% positive.

Thanks, I'm gonna call Glock in the am.  I was just curious.  I may end up selling it then and looking for a Gen 4 30.

You can put the gen3 slide on a gen4 frame since the cutout for the recoil spring is bigger. It won't work in reverse.

I put my name on a waiting list several months ago, and just got the call!  This southpaw isn't worried, I love my gen II model 23.

haydendavid380, thanks for the input.  OK, Glock said it won't work and they don't recommend playing mix and match.  Would be simply due to liability and warranty?  The smaller the .45 the better without having to go with a single stack.  I plan on carrying this on duty (LEO) as a backup AND for my off duty carry as I carry a 21 Gen 4 on duty.  SO, I took the slides off and looked at them.  The 30s is a gen 3 and the 30 is a gen 4.  The recoil springs and guts look the same.  The frame on the the 30s is a gen 3 30SF frame while the 30 is a straight up gen 4 frame.  Again, I looked at the internals and they look the same, with the exception of modular back straps and ambi changeable mag release.  I swapped the slides on each and they seem to cycle just fine.  I haven't tried firing it yet.  The recoil springs look identical.  I'm a tad confused.  I took a couple of pics for y'all to see what I'm talking about.  Thanks in advance for letting me pick your brains and confuse the hell outta ya.
