I'm looking for a general woods and outdoors pistol. Anyone buy one?
Like it, love it? Worth the price? What optic did you put on it if any? Sights? How much did you pay? I do qualify for the blue label, should I do it? |

Love it, but it's an expensive dog to feed. I paid full price just to get one at $863 OTD the most expensive Glock I own and/or ever will, so blue label if you can but I'm not sure how soon they will have blue labels available for purchase. I haven't put an rds on it, not sure if I will because I'm not used to those things so I prefer old fashioned irons or in Glock's case plastics. It is my first 10mm and even with genuine 10mm loads it is easy enough to control when shooting. It is quite a hog leg though, I doubt it will bother me when hiking but it may get in the way when doing outdoor chores. It might be better suited for hunting applications rather than general outdoor stuff, but when you're in love you usually find a way to make it work. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I have had mine for about 2 1/2 weeks. Have put about 100 rds through it. I paid 824.00 out the door. By far the most expensive Glock I own knew it would be a great hunting handgun. I already owned a gl24 longslide and II knew a 10 mm in a longslide would be great. I put a Burris fastfire 3 with the 3 moa dot on it . it works great for a great price.
It is amazingly accurate. My first 3 shots from 50 yds were touching like they had been shot out of a rifle. I have shot it out to 125 yds offhand with great success. I would not have believed how accurate this gun is if I had not saw it for myself. I try to never tell anybody more than I think they will believe. If you get one I hope you enjoy it .

I have a 40 MOS on order and I have a Docter Sight II Plus 3.5 MOA I plan to put on it.
Have either of you weighted your G40s? GLOCK's website says the unloaded weight is 28.15oz, which is 2.5 onces lighter than their weight for a regular 20GEN4. Would be awesome to gain a 6" barrel and closed slide, yet still be lighter than a G20. |
Received a G40MOS for my birthday , so no idea of the cost. I put a Fast Fire III on it, like others have. So far I have only put about 120 round through it and am real happy with it. Hope to use it for hunting Black Bear, moose and caribou. It should prove to be an interesting pistol to shoot.

Blue Label is nice, mine was just over $600 OTD. |
I bought a 41MOS about 22 hours ago, I have not shot it yet.  the torrential down pour is stopping me right now, otherwise I would go out and do a mag dump just to try it out.
I was torn between the 40 and 41, but the 41 was sitting there and not the 40. So I bought it Blue label price $589. On Edit...$579.99 I will be running a Trigicon Adjustable LED on it like I have on another gun, the keep it the same thing, user friendly thing. I will likely be buying the 40 soon enough, red dots are helping out with my older eyes. |

I'm a 10mm nut, have been from way back when I got my first one, a S&W 1006. Aside from three 1911's in 10mm, I recently added a G40 to my lineup. I got it about a month ago at a LGS that was having a Glock sale for October. I paid $675, which here in NH with no sales taxes, that was the OTD price. I love the gun but it had some issues when I got it. Read here: Bad trigger
I have that problem solved so my next task was to make it fit my hands. I removed the finger grooves and gave it a "grip tape" stipple job. This was only my second stipple job and I'm as happy with it as my first, a G43 which is miniature compared to this beast. The gun feels so different now it's like night/day. I also did the beavertail backstrap which still fits over the frame stippling so I still have the option of going with the stock frame grip or adding the beavertail. The fine stippling grips like crazy yet makes it feel "soft" and not like plastic. I don't know how it will hold up but for a target gun it should last a long time. My next task will be replacing the sights. I eventually plan to put some type of optic on it but not sure what one yet. That will be a winter project when the funds allow, maybe with my tax refund.

| 20/20SF has been a backpacking standard here in Alaska for some time. 40 gets you more muzzle velocity and ability to mount an RDS. Up do you if that is worth it. 20SF will be cheaper for 95% of the same capability. Will you hunt with it? If not, 20 is probably the better bet. |

The only sights I could find that would co-witness trough that Eotech were suppressor sights made by Suarez specifically for the Glock MOS pistols. |

I've had my custom 6" German steel slide Gen3 G20/21L for 11 years now and empty mine weighs 33.2 oz or 4¾ oz more than a stock Gen3 G20. I actually find the added weight at the muzzle to be a benefit both during aiming and for cycling. The increased mass slightly delays the start of cycling and helps to distribute the recoil impulse over a longer period. Further, with the mass at the muzzle, muzzle rise is reduced giving the impression of push rather than a snap even with hot ammo. Further, even with my extended mag loaded with 17+1 rds of 180grn 10mm, my G20L weighs only 50.3 ready to fire. Compare that to a 6" S&W 686 loaded with 158grn 357mag weighing 48.4 oz. While the revolver weighs 1.9 oz less, it carries only 6rds of 357mag vs 18rds of 10mm; 1/3 the ammo load. |

How is the trigger on yours? My store had two G40s at the time, so I had my choice. The one I took had a better than average GLOCK trigger and the one I left had a typical trigger. Neither compared to the CGW hammer and sear in my CZ 75.
I dropped in a LWD 6lb trigger spring and a radiused/polished OEM firing pin block. I will do a full polish and tune on the trigger when I get a chance. |
