I picked up my Glock 42 yesterday. I love the feel of it. While it's bigger than the LCP/P3AT, it is still small than my S&W Shield and is easier to carry with a T-shirt on.

I fired 50 rounds of Aguila FMJ, 50 rounds of WWB FMJ, 13 rounds of Critical Defense, and 13 rounds of WInchester Ranger. All shots were from 7 yards. I intentionally tried to limp wrist the gun both strong and week handed.

I had no malfunctions of any kind. The slide locked back every time on an empty magazine.

My 8 year old son also fired a couple magazines with no problems.

It was much more enjoyable to shoot than my LCP and much more accurate.

The group was 13 Critical Defense controlled fire.

Ok I see your 8 year old son's target, so where's yours? Did he shame you?

Jokes aside, these are the kind I like to read. Simple to the point!
Thank you!

Thanks!

Damn! I was hoping you wouldn't ask for my target.

Is it about the same size as the G26? I have not seen one yet. Does it have the same sights as other Glocks?
I wish Glock would update those crappy stock sights. Thanks for the review!

Same sights as any other Glock. It's been a while since I had a 26, but it's definitely smaller. Obviously it's much thinner, but the grip seems smaller front to back as well. It's a nice compromise between a Shield and LCP.

I still carry my Shield if I have on a t-shirt with a collared shirt over it, but the Shield won't cut it with just a t-shirt for me... the Glock 42 will.

I also like that it feels just a well made as any other Glock just like the Shield feels as good as any other M&P. I can't say the same for the LCP and I am a huge Ruger fan.

I love my G42. It has been accurate and 100% functional in approximately 209 rounds. I have shot WWB, Blazer, and various Speer, Hornady, and Buffalo Bore defense ammo.

I carry it and trust it. That reminds me, my local store has .380 in stock. I need to pick some up.

I plan on buying the first one I see for $450.

Having owned both an LCP and a Bodyguard, I have to say I am just not a fan of the micro .380s. The 42 is perfect for the .380. There is just enough to hold onto to make the gun controllable, but it is thin enough to disappear under just a t shirt. I have a little extra around the middle, so that helps me tremendously because my work shirt is just a tee and not a very roomy one at that. The trigger was a huge selling point for me. When I think of the long, long pulls and resets on some of those micro .380s, the Glock blows all of them away.

I plan on getting one as well, and putting Trijicon HD sights on it.......the 42 handles well

I got my 42 this weak and was the first time I had seen one in person.  People complain about Glock not releasing this pistol in 9 MM but I think Glock hit a home run for this segment of the market.  This is the best 380 I have ever shot and rivals the Berretta 84/85/BDA  but a lot smaller with the Glock safe action trigger.

The first thing I noticed is how light the 42 is compared to my EDC Glock 27.  With an inside the waist band holster I don't even notice the weight of the G-42.  The grip is just large enough to easily shoot the pistol.  The Glock 42 is the right size as far as I'm concerned.  I'll admit I don't like the micro pistols like the Keltec and Ruger LCP.  I know I can effectively shoot the Glock 42 to 25 yards or further.  My G-42 was shooting left but once I drifted the rear sight to the right the Glock hit POA with good groups.

A 9 MM of this size will produce more recoil and for some users the 380 will be preferred.  A couple of friends were on hand and shot the 42.  Both are die hard big bore fans but each said they'll probably buy a 42.   I will mainly carry my Glock 27 but the 42 will be a nice addition.

Swore I'd never buy a glock again for CCW... I picked one up about a month ago.

I have a JM holster and spare mag carrier on order.

The only problem that I've had to date, is finding ammo! Which will arrive first, ammo or the holster? Lol

Thank you for the excellent review

I'm a very thin, small-framed guy and have been researching what I'd carry.  The M&P Shield was at the top of my list but, after reading your review, I'll see if I can't get ahold of one of these to try out and I will consider one of these as well.

Nice review. I think its a nice pistol, but I don't think its the answer to many questions.

I love my Glock 19 and its about the best semi-compact platform out there
In the subcompact/micro defensive gun segment though I think the 42 leaves too much on the table.
Yes it will be softer shooting than a smaller LCP sized micro 380 or comparably sized 9mm but at what cost.

380 ACP is running at half the pressure of 9x19. With good 380acp defense ammo your pushing a 90-95gr projectile at 147gr 9x19 speeds. And that 380 ammo is tougher to find and typically more expensive.
The 380 running at near 38special pressures without the ability to run the heavies.

The 42 is actually larger than a CM9/PM9 and on par with a Kimber solo and slightly smaller than a LC9 or Sheild

If I'm stepping down from a 19 to a smaller more concealable pistol I'd much prefer 7 rounds of 9x19 to 7 of 9x17

If your after a softer shooter and that's your priority then a 42 or an LC380 will fit the bill.

I think Glock will sell quite a few mostly to Glock aficionados and they'll likely sell another pistol to them in 12-18 months when the slightly larger 9mm version appears.  A 2 for 1 special in favor of the Austrian manufacturer.

What's a 43 and the LC380 is bigger/heavier than the 42???????

My apologies I typed 43 instead of 42.
Your thinking of an LCP not an LC380
The LC380 is basically and LC9 chambered in 380 instead of 9mm.
Ruger came out with them as a bigger 380 for those who thought the pocket sized LCP was too small and snappy. Its basically a downloaded LC9

The Glock 42 is slightly smaller than the LC380 mostly in height.

I'll give it to Glock that their bigger 380 is better than the bigger LC380. The trigger pull on the LC9 and LC380 isn't great

But for a pistol the size of the Glock 42 I still think your better served with a 9x19 not a 9x17.

Picked up my 42 yesterday. I'm hoping to shoot it today.

The size is perfect for concealment in summer clothing. (I still think there is a place for the LCP, though.)

While the 9mm is preferable, I believe the .380 is adequate. I"m not sure fmj isn't the best option for these, as opposed to hollow point, though. I did pick up some 102 grain Remington defense ammo.  I'll be trying WWB today, along with Golden Sabers and Hornady Critical Defense, and then the new ammo.

I like the stock Glock sights. I may switch to a night sight at some point. I'd like to hear feedback on different options.

I'll be picking up a pocket holster at some point and trying it out. Right now, I've got a very comfortable Flashbang Prohibition Capone holster that is like a Cross Breed. I'm 6'5" tall, so I do think this thing would fit just fine for me with a pocket holster.

My primary carry gun is still my SR9c, but for lighter clothing or deeper concealment, the 42 has replaced my LCP, as long as it proves reliable, which I fully expect.

Thanks for the review! It increases my expectations for and confidence in this neat little gun!

My Glock 42 is a whole lotta fun to shoot.  My Keltec P3AT was not fun.  The Keltect tried to jump out of my hand on each shot.  The Glock just sits there and keeps chugging along.  I really wish I had more .380 ammo.

I heard a rumor that their single stack 9MM would essentially be a single stack Glock 19... This is a RUMOR. I have nothing to substantiate it.
