I just wanted to take a minute to post my experience with Glock's Customer Service Department.
I own a lot of Glocks and several of them are older models. I read about the "Six Part Upgrade" and decided to call Glock and see if any of mine should be sent back. After speaking with the customer service rep, I discovered that all three of my Gen 1 G17's and my Gen 2 G19 were eligable and had not been sent back by a previous owner. Before anyone posts about this, yes, they are real Gen 1 G17's (cool, huh?). I was e-mailed the necessary form, I boxed them up and FedEx'd the back on May 14. I received all four back today with the upgrade parts installed. I sent themback without mags or cases, just securely wrapped up in a thick cardboard box. When FedEx dropped the box off today all four were boxed up in new style Glock boxes with owners manuals, bore brushes and cleaning rods. I am impressed with the turn-around time for Glock to get these done and the cases and extras were a noce touch, too. Overall, Glock's Customer Service, from my experience is as good as Ruger's. Smith and Wesson still has the Gold Standard of CS Departments and all it would take for Glock to match them would be for them to send out shipping labels to pay for shipping both ways. |

I've also had great experiences with Glock's c.s. Coupla years ago, I discovered a hairline crack in the front of the ejection port. Crack was causing p.o.i. to shift left. I called Glock and talked with a guy in Warranty Services. Without hesitation, he said he'd give me a new slide. I dropped the 2nd gen G17 off with the tech, during which meeting I asked if I could just trade this ol' 2nd gen in for a new 3rd gen. Since tech's supervisor was out of his office until the following Tuesday, I left the pistol with the tech, as the supervisor would have to make the trade decision. Tech called me Tuesday, as promised, saying that I could get a new Gen 3 for $300. That just didn't seem like a GREAT deal to me, as I was already getting a new slide with internals for free, so I told the guy to just put the new slide on the old frame, and I'd just forget about a scope mount, etc.
Guy says, "what if I give you a new frame for $43?" Now, that DID sound lilke a great deal, so I wound up with a brand new, 3rd gen G17 for $43. I did, of course, use the original G17's barrel, which was fine with me. BTW, I'd bought the broken G17 used and had run over 10k of my reloads through it. Glock tech never even asked whether I'd shot reloads. |
