Hi,

I have several handguns, but never have owned a Glock or any other striker-fired pistol.

I have been thinking about picking up a factory rebuilt G19 w/ nightsights for $509.

I think it is a Gen 3, maybe a Gen 4, (I've only seen small pics online) and it comes w/ 2 new15 rd mags, lock & new plastic box from Glock.

My question is, do any of you have any experience with factory rebuilds?  Is there anything I should be aware of, should I avoid them, or what?  My concern is that maybe it's overpriced a little, but they say that it comes with the lifetime warranty on it as well, and I know the nightsights cost more,  (I was unaware that any Glock carried a lifetime warranty.)  My other concern is that it is a factory rebuild after all.

Any info you can offer would be appreciated.

Thanks.

for that price i would buy a brand new one. Factory rebuilds are usually trade in  LEO guns that they check and replace parts. Lots of times they have use rash.if i could not inspect it in person, i would pass

Agree with the others go new for that price.  I do have a factory refurb'd G20 that's been great since the day I got it and it looked new at that time.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy rebuilt Glock if the price was right.

I just snagged a factory refurbished Glock 20SF w/two 15 round mags, warranty and all the other goodies new pistols come with for $489. yes, that's including tax. the only way you can tell it's not new is the refurbished label on the trigger guard.

I doubt the night sights included with the rebuild are new.  Probably a few years old at least from the police trade in.   I would say buy a brand new one for $500 and add on the Glock night sights for $55.  You can get a Gen 4 for that price some places as well and have three magazines.

My local shop sells all new Gen 3s for $489 and all Gen 4s for $499.  NIB coated Glocks are $35 more.

At the Glock armorer's course, the Glock rep said that they replace everything, everything except the (stripped) slide, the barrel, and the (stripped) frame.
They don't "check" any of the small parts.  They just replace them all with new parts.

This is true.  The "factory refurbished" that I have seen at gun shows even have the slide refinished.  But for that price, just get a new one.  The factory refurbs around my area sell for $375-400.

At my shop we sell gen 3 19's for 499. It's probably not a gen 4.
ETA: our gen 3's are stock sights though.

My roommate got a rebuilt 19. It's an awesome gun. I think a badge number is etched into the frame, but otherwise perfect. And the number is kinda fun anyway.

But he didn't pay $500 for it. That said, I can't remember if his had better than plastic sights.

I figured out a long time ago that buying from a retail dealer just didn't make any sense.  I always buy my Glocks through private sales.  The lifetime warranty is just as good if you're the 50th owner as if you were the original owner.  I don't pay sales taxes and dealer overhead for my Glocks.

Personally, if you can cherry pick a "rebuild" and pay the right price, they are a GREAT deal.

I have shot several G17 and G22 rebuilds and never had an issue. Some come with Trijicon night sights that may only be a couple years old. Some look like they have never been fired (much) or carried at all.

My first duty gun was a factory refurb.  2 years later the trigger return spring broke, and I replaced it.  Then the trigger pin broke clean through on one of the notches a few months later.  After that I started losing confidence in that gun and bought a new G22.  I eventually overhauled the old gun except the barrel/frame/slide and it runs fine now.
