I am looking at getting a glock 17 and would like to have the internal lock on it, if at all possible. I am looking at getting a glock with nite sites or adjustable sites which are both options that i cant seem to find that include the lock. The question I have is can i get the internal lock added on as an aftermarket accessory? How much would it cost to get that installed? Are there any places that normally sell either glock 17 with nite sites or adj. sites that sell it like that?

Besides that not being the answer to any of my questions, I'd rather not have a gun lock that a 10 year old can take off without a key.

The Glocks with the internal locks are manufactured with them installed.  I don't believe that Glock can or will retrofit existing frames to accept the internal locks.  If you really want one then I suggest that you plan on buying a Glock designed for the lock.

In before someone calls you a pussy for wanting a glock with an interal lock

Just pick up a S&W if you want an interal lock.

call me a pussy all you want, I am over protective about guns. I know a few kids growing up whose faces were blown off by their parents guns because they weren't sufficiently secured.

I don't want a springfield but, its nice to know they have internal locks.

It sounds like its harder to find the gun I want with an internal lock than it is to find another solution.  Maybe a safe

I figured the lock was a drop in solution for the gun rather than a redesigned frame.

Thanks for your help.

Safety is critical, but so is the ability to quickly use the gun if needed.  Those internal locks aren't the answer.

You'd be better off finding a small, quick-access safe so that you can keep the gun loaded, but it's still easy for YOU to access, and the gun is locked away from other people.

my desire to own a gun is not to need it for quick access, but i understand your sentiment.

My advice get a Taurus. They all come with the LOCK inside.

If that's the case, maybe just look for an safe, keep the gun unloaded and store the ammo separately.  Most of those integral gun locks aren't all that sophisticated, and can fairly easily be unlocked without the key.

With a safe, you don't have the possibility of a gun lock breaking and needing repair, you'll have room for additional guns, and they'll all be secure.

+ 1 on the safe.

I also have these and like them, but I don't have any children in my house either.

I also own S&W revolvers with an internal lock and the club trigger lock is way better IMHO.

Then might I suggest alternatives:

1. Safe/Arms Locker (if you're really into "safety" you can buy two and store the slide assembly in one and the frame in the other).

2. Safe with the barrel in it and one of these:

in the firearm.

Unless he/she has access to the safe AND can field strip a Glock and insert the factory barrel its just a club.

This type of lock is IMO more secure than the internal locks.

One of these would be my choice. www.gunvault.com/

2nd on the getting a safe.
you can a decent small Sentry safe that will fit in your closet.
Easily holds more than 6 pistols.
I keep one for important paper work and gun storage.

Add another on the safe idea. I don't understand why it has to be an internal lock? A good solid external lock would work just as well. I think the less internal mechanisms it has, the less that could go wrong.  You don't seem like it needs to be loaded or kept handy. A good safe would be the most secure way to keep it IMO.

Has anyone bought one of these?  I previously bought another brand biometric safe and whenever I opened or closed it it was extemely loud.  So loud I sold it on Ebay and took the loss right after I bought it.

it might be helpful if you let me know what "one of these" is...
