So let me say first that I love 'em-got 2, used to have more, and I want more again.
That said: I called them a few months ago wanting to order a trigger housing pin (bought a used G26 w/ CT laser and it didn't come with the original pin). I would have guessed they would just send it to me for free but I was willing to pay $2-$6 or whatever when I made the call. They tell me they no longer ship to anyone who is not a Glock armorer. I'm thinking to myself "anyone who can work Youtube can work on a Glock" but maybe they got sick of wanna be gunsmiths wanting free replacement parts for the ones they tear up. So today I decide I want a G34 upper for my G17. Well I can get it together from vendors for around $400 (which I can buy the whole thing for $600). I call Glock to get a price on a G34 complete slide and the lady tells me that they don't sell slides or frames. I ask if they sell Guns and she says that they only sell to military and le. I mention this to a friend and he tells me that he is of the impression that Glock will maintain 3rd Gen for le and 4th Gen will be all that is found on the commercial market. This may not be the case but it seems to me that Glock is setting them selves up to be another Colt in the sense that the products are great but they don't give a crap about the commercial market because they can rest on military and le sales. And IF this is the case I will be very disappointing in Glock. At this point their customer service is already slipping/slipped under Smith and Springfield. Again I love Glock and there are still plenty of parts to be had on the aftermarket, but I chose Glock for many reasons one major one of which is their customer service. Now I can't even buy a gun form them!? I don't see them holding on to their reputation if this is their new MO. Not when I can build a COMPLETELY aftermarket clone of their gun the way I want it for $100-$200 or so more than the 4th gen in the showroom. Just my $.02 |
| Glock is not a dealer, so you can't order parts from them. and yes they only sell complete weapons to LE and Military from the factory. that's why they have so many dealers so consumers can buy. you just are going through the wrong channels to get what you want/need. they are not turning their back on anyone. |

As
Far As I Know By the way, I think you already answered part of your rant here: but maybe they got sick of wanna be gunsmiths wanting free replacement parts for the ones they tear up. The rest of your rant (Glock only cares about LE/gov't contracts) is based on unsubstantiated BS speculation by your friend. Glock has a huge dealer network. They're not going to be eager to undercut them with direct sales.... and I've never heard of Glock selling slides. Replacing bad ones, yes, but not just selling them. |

You guys are proving my points. A friend broke the extrator on his TRP and SA sent him a new one for free. And anyone can buy arms from Smith via FFL. What is AFAIK BTW? sounds like you need to dump the Glock and get a TRP. you have not made a point to prove. you're just pissed. |
