Hi everyone!
I'm about to jump into the Glock world with a purchase during spring break. However I have a couple questions before my purchase. As a side note, my experience with pistols is rather limited to M9, 1911, and a Beretta U22. I'm mainly a rifle person, owning a WASR AK, but I do have my grandfather's 1911. Secondly, I'm in young specialist in the Texas Army National Guard. 1. Any experience with GT Distributors? -They have a store not far from me and seem to offer LE pricing for military personnel, including National Guard. Not sure of any other places in Dallas/Ft Worth area that offer that. 2. Nightsight?? Worth the extra cost? -GT would install them for free (i would have to pay for the night sights first), so wondering if I should go ahead and add that to my cost. 3. How many magazines should come with the purchase of a new Glock? -I've been reading conflicting reports online. The U22 that I borrowed only had two mags, so I figured two was standard. 4. What should I look for when buying a Glock in-store? -I've never bought a gun in a store. Always ordered via phone/internet. Filling out the form was no issue. However didn't know if there was anything I should be aware of? I appreciate any thoughts and comments. Thanks. |

Definitely order from the LE distributor if you can, you will save lots of money. -They have a store not far from me and seem to offer LE pricing for military personnel, including National Guard. Not sure of any other places in Dallas/Ft Worth area that offer that. 2. Nightsight?? Worth the extra cost? Glock NS are a great value. High quality for not a lot of money. If you like the sight picture, they are GTG. -GT would install them for free (i would have to pay for the night sights first), so wondering if I should go ahead and add that to my cost. 3. How many magazines should come with the purchase of a new Glock? All blue label glocks come with 3 mags. -I've been reading conflicting reports online. The U22 that I borrowed only had two mags, so I figured two was standard. 4. What should I look for when buying a Glock in-store? I just do a basic inspection to make sure nothing is obvisouly wrong/broke etc... Never had an issue. -I've never bought a gun in a store. Always ordered via phone/internet. Not sure of any other places in Dallas/Ft Worth area that offer that. There is a GT Distributors in my city, and I've bought numerous Glocks from them. Great store, and you can't beat the mil/LE pricing they have on Glocks. 2. Nightsight?? Worth the extra cost? -GT would install them for free (i would have to pay for the night sights first), so wondering if I should go ahead and add that to my cost. Standard Glock sights suck, so I would recommend new ones anyway. The Glock night sights are fine and only an extra $55 installed at the time of purchase at GT Distributors, so I'd go for it unless you already have a set of aftermarket sights in mind. 3. How many magazines should come with the purchase of a new Glock? -I've been reading conflicting reports online. The U22 that I borrowed only had two mags, so I figured two was standard. 3 mags in the mil/LE packages. 4. What should I look for when buying a Glock in-store? -I've never bought a gun in a store. Always ordered via phone/internet. Filling out the form was no issue. However didn't know if there was anything I should be aware of? Just make sure you like the gun. GT Distributors does not sell the display guns, so the one you buy will not have been handled by other customers. If you get night sights, make sure they glow and aren't DOA. I appreciate any thoughts and comments. Thanks. |

Quoted: You are eligible for the glock mil/le discount go to the glock website for details new blue label glock come with 3 mags for around 400 bucks Or he can just go to GT Distributors and buy one in person for $400 without having to wait on shipping or go through an FFL. |

I appreciate the responses. Reassured me about buying from GT Dist and that I would get a fair price for a Glock. I figured buying local (with tax) would balance out the shipping & FFL cost of buying out of state.
Since the night sights arn't that much more, I'll go ahead and add them on. Thanks. |
| +1 for GT Distributors. They are great to deal with, at least over the phone. I haven't been to any of their retail stores. And the Glock discount for LE, Mil etc is definitely the way to go if you qualify. They have pretty good ammo prices too for LE/Military at least when they have it in stock. |
