There are no such thing as "recalls" to Glock, only "updates". My, you're helpful...
http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412093 Glock Pistol Upgrades
1990 Upgrade Glock Model 19, 9mm Luger caliber, requires an upgrade for the following serial numbers: AN, BP, BR, BV, BW, BX, DL, DM, DN, DP, DR, DS, DT, DV, DW, DX, DY, DZ These pistols may have the potential of the action to malfunction as follows: 1. The slide locking back on a full magazine. 2. Failure to lock into battery because the barrel lug drags on the slide lock. 3. The magazine follower tips or sticks in the magazine tube. 1992, 6 part Upgrade GLOCK, INC. Technical Bulletin #920403 April 1, 1992 Glock, Inc. announces a production change of the firing pin safety system. This new firing pin safety system has been installed in all production Glock pistols since November, 1991. A voluntary upgrade is being offered to maintain the Glock tradition of ensuring that all of our pistoils are up to the latest standards in 21st century Goock technology. Most importantly, the components of the new firing pin safety system are not interchangable with the components of the old systam and Glock will always strive towards maintaining this feature of interchangability while working to ensure future interchangability. The upgraded firing pin safety system consists of: the firing pin, firing pin safety, the extractor, the spring loaded bearing and the trigger bar. The upgraded system is applicable only to Glock pistols with the following serial number ranges : Glock 17 - alpha prefixes AA - WF Glock 19 - alpha prefixes through WJ Glock 20 - alpha prefixes through WW Glock 21 - alpha prefixes through XL Glock 22 - alpha prefixes through YA Glock 23 - alpha prefixes through SK The upgraded firing pin safety has a new surface finish making it nearly 100% saltwater corrosion resistant. Also, after rigorous and extensive testing, the new system proves to be more durable and has a longer useful life. Here, as alwyas, Glock is working toward maintianing its standard of perfection. 1993, G19 Upgrade Glock Model 19, 9mm Luger caliber, requires an upgrade for all pistols. These pistols have the potential for an UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE of a cartridge with the action open. The Glock model 19 pistol slide has a bottom protrusion, whose function is to push cartridges from the top of the magazine into the chamber. When the pistol is jammed in a double feed situation, the slide protrusion can come in contact with the primer of the jammed cartridge and cause UNINTENTIONAL DISCHARGE while the action is open. 2000, G26/27 Recoil spring upgrade Glock Model 26, 9mm caliber, serial numbers DGU, DHR DKU. Glock Model 27, .40S&W caliber, serial numbers DGD, DGV, DHS, DHT, DKV, DKW, DKX. Mr. Don Bulver, warranty department of Glock, Inc., indicated the recoil springs produced before September 1999 may shear off on some of these pistols due to over hardness of the support tube. Replacement springs will be distinguished by a vertical mark from the center on the front polymer portion of outer ring of the guide rod assembly, which will appear to be a mold line. 2002 Frame Upgrade – Rear slide rail The GLOCK Corporation has identified a problem with a very small percentage of GLOCK pistols produced between September of 2001 and May of 2002. The specific problem that has been identified is the potential of breaking a rear frame rail in pistols manufactured during this time period. Within the specific range the breakage rate has been less than 0.0188%. So, while the actual percentage of rails reported broken is within any accepted manufacturing tolerance, it is not an acceptable situation to the GLOCK Corporation. It is also important to note that under most conditions GLOCK pistols will continue to function with three rails. A routine maintenance check after each time the pistol has been taken out and used would immediately indicate if there is a problem. We are, therefore, concerned that a limited number of customers will not get the product we have promised them and what we have always delivered, the very best pistol on the market, in short, a GLOCK. For these reasons, we have made the decision that in the interest of customer service, replacement frames will be offered to anyone who has a firearm in this range and decides to take advantage of this offer. The replacement frames will have identical serial numbers to our customer's original firearm except the numeral 1 will be added as a prefix. If you believe your firearm is within this range, please call 1-866-225-4098 to take advantage of the ultimate in customer service. Nothing less than the best for our customers is acceptable to GLOCK and, as always, we will continue to work towards Perfection. It appears that only serial numbers starting with "E", "GSSF", or "USA" (American Hero’s Commemoratives) are affected. In general, the chronological serial number set that has the prefix letters of "EKA" through "EVR" inclusive appear to be the affected Glocks, regardless of caliber. Three letters precede three numbers on a plate forward of the trigger guard on the underside of the polymer frame. However, some aberrations to this generalization have been reported by GTers. Reports are that the affected Glocks were manufactured from September 2001 to May 2002. So if you bought (or won a GSSF Glock) an "E" or "USA" series Glock in September of 2001 up until the present day, you might have an affected Glock. Unfortunately, Glock has not published a list. Hope this helps, but again, if you are responsible enough to own a gun and can read this, you are smart enough to check for yourself by calling Glock. |

Great post Dark Star. That information would be useful to be stickied at the top of this forum. i agree I agree. I was just joshing with you, but if you asked Mr Glock himself about all the Glock "recalls",I'm pretty confident he would tell you there are only "upgrades" and chew you a new one. Whats the model and serial of the gun in question? |

Quoted: AWESOME post Dark Star, thank you. Very comprehensive, very helpful. Hell yes that info does need to be tacked somewhere above. I think we need a "general FAQ" thread that would have information like that in it. ill get a hold of the Glock forum mod and see if we cant get something done.. |

ugh i think my new too me leo trade in is on the list If it's your G22 you're talking about, yes, it seems to be listed for the "6 part upgrade". What you do is: Strip it and look at those parts...............see if they're the upgraded ones. If not sure, call Glock, give them the serial #, they should be able to tell you if that particular pistol has ever been sent in for the upgrade. HERE is a link about it, diagrams on the right show the difference between the older parts and upgraded ones. Click 'em to enlarge. (By the way, ignore their anti-Glock rhetoric, that site is famous for it, but the technical information is completely accurate). If it hasn't been, see if they'll just send you the parts so you don't have to send the gun in. If they tell you they can only be sent to a certified Glock armorer, well, you and I both know one (Unicorn). Now I'll tell you, it seems the vast majority of these older pistols have already been upgraded. I can tell you my G17, made in Feb of '90, was old enough to be in that "upgrade range" also, but it's already had the upgrade long ago. Stripped it and confirmed the presence of the newer style parts. |

So how does one go about getting an "upgrade" done? I don't see anything on their website about them, or a service/support link... do you just have to call (how old fashioned When you call them, they will just ask the serial # and tell you if there are any upgrades available. or you could just send it in with a note. NO RMA needed. |

Hello everybody, hope someone can answer my question.Do the Glock recalls/upgrades/whatever expire?I have a Glock 23 .40 caliber serial number prefix ERP.I bought this gun new(fuzzy memory)late 2001 or early 2002.I just got home from a 3-gun match and disassembled the gun for cleaning. When I did,the rear frame rail closest to the ejector was broken off,I have the broken piece.I read this Glock recall thread and saw that my pistol falls into the "E" pistol 2001/2002 broken frame rail category.I called Glock, but they are closed until Monday. This is the only problem I have had with this gun in 8 years of ownership.I have shot I'm guessing 1500 rounds or so through it,all ammo being new manufactured copper jacketed Remington UMC,Federal, and Winchester.I assume that my only recourse is to send it to Glock(as it is not a drop in easily replaced part, molded into the polymer frame)after I get a hold of them on Monday. Will I have to pay for a new frame or will they still honor the "recall" I read in the list in the beginning of this thread?Man this is a fucking bummer |
|
Quoted: Funny, I have a G19 (Gen2) I bought in 1992, or 1993, with serial that starts with "ANH"... I called Glock two years ago, and they stated my particular pistol was not part of any "Recall". After reading sticky, now I'm confused. id call them back and tell them about the info you came across. its worth another shot |
| I'm gonna call their customer service at 0500 PST when they open before I go to work to hopefully get the ball rolling. It fucking sucks when your gun goes down on Saturday and you can't contact the manufacturer until Monday, giving me two days to stew over it!I don't care what they do,replace just the frame or the whole gun,I just want to be made whole again.Anything made by man is never going to be perfect,I understand that,as long as Glock makes it right(my gun falls under the recall parameters)I'll still be a Glock guy(this Glock 23 and a Glock 30 are my main carry pieces) and sing their praises.Cross your collective fingers for me! |
| Here's an uodate on my Glock 23 broken frame rail.I called Glock tech support at 0500 my time before I had to go to work. When I told the tech guy about the broken rail and my serial number,he said that they will replace my frame. There was no having to argue or prove that there is a recall,he immediately told me my options as to how I want the frame replaced and told me to send it on in.As soon as I got off work I went over to the Fedex facility and sent it over to Smyrna. So far so good!Good thing I have seven handguns on my CCW,so I'm still "packin' a gatt"! |
|
There was an additional problem with frames cracking near the front of the gun. My G23 bought in 2003 had this same problem. Link
I sent it in and Glock replaced the frame and most of the internals. Plus they gave me 2 mags to cover my shipping costs. |

You can call Glock C/S and they will tell you how to ship your pistol to them. No matter what model you have, they will take it and "upgrade" any parts that need upgrading. All for free!!! If you live in the Smryna, Ga. area, you can take it in to the Factory. They will upgrade it and actually test fire it while you wait.
Incidently, you don't have to be the original purchaser either. You can also take advantage of this upgrading at any local GSSF sanctioned shooting event. They always have a Glock Armorer in site. I just recently picked up a GEN II G19 and it still had the original (2) piece recoil rod/spring setup. I called C/S and they sent me a brand-new (1) piece captive recoil rod/spring. Took like 2 days to arrive. Excellent Customer Service!!!!! |

Was at a GSSF match and they went through both Glocks that I brought and updated several parts - in a matter of seconds. All with a smile. Since I'm in GA, they happened to be two of the factory armorers, and MAN, they were FAST. |
