So this is probably a stupid question but I have a front sight that is not like normal glock sights with the hex screw and all. From what I think this is some sort of press fit front sight. I believe the sight is a tritium night sight installed for the leo this gun was used by. I have other glock slides and sights but this is the only one that I bought and it didnt have the factory setup. Thanks for your time reading this

It's the staked version, not a screw in version. They do that on Leo guns and some older ones I believe. You can pull it and install a screw in replacement if you want. |

As long as it's still tight and still glows you are good to go.
That's the way my first Gen3 came. To remove it simply support the slide in a padded vise and drive the sight out with a small punch. The swaged area will simply give way provided the punch is small enough to pass through the slot it sits in. The entire slide needs to be sideways in the padded vise except for the area you need to work on. Don't use any more vise pressure than needed and punch the old sight out going horizontally. If you put the slide in the vise and pound down on the sight you are almost sure to mare the finish because it will move on you. My only criticism of Glock is their standard issue plastic sights. WTF? |
| Sorry I was unclear im trying to remove it so someone can cerakote it. Thank you to the first guy I think hes right with pulling method. I just been trying to use needle nose pliers to bend the metal and tap it out with a punch but no movement yet. I just didnt wanna be rough, but you guys are saying to pull it and destroy it? I dont intend on re using it since the set of NS are almost at the end of there life span. |
:D thank you to all for the quick help! I ended up destroying the front sight but at least now I can send off this slide and frame to Mod 1 firearms (pike does amazing work!!) And this CCPD glock22 gen3 is by far the best police trade in gun I own. Will probably replace with a nice new day and night sight. Havent gotton to try em yet but heard good things of fiber optic and tritium combo.
