I have a 1st generation G-17 with standard non-adjustable sights, and I would like to know some suggestions as far as a replacement sight, tritium or not. Is it true that the original Glock sights are fragile? Thanks! |

yes factory glock sights suck; not only are they plastic, but they will move w/ some rough handling ex: my G26 fell from my truck's seat and hit the concrete a couple of times--the rear sight moved half way off ![]() easy to pop back though--just pushed it w/ my thumb and finished setting by hitting it against my kitchen table front sights are also pretty delicate night sights are a good option: trijicons and heinies are the ones i would recommend tru-glo and meps are also some good ones here are a couple of other threads: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=33126 www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=5&f=13&t=31950 |

I put these on my old Glock 22 and like them just fine........... mine are Red Green Red www.ptnightsights.com/color.html |
If you can't see the sights, you probably can't ID the target as a threat. So??? The last low light class I took was based on the SureFire methodology. So I'm indifferent on night sights. The only scenario that I can come up with where night sights are an advantage is if your light goes down after you've determined that you have a threat that you must engage. |
It depends on the technique and situation. Will you always have a functional white light on you? Will it be weapon mounted or handheld? Obviously weapon mounted lights do a great job of backlighting your sights. Hand held lights do not do this even half as well in all positions, techniques, or situations. Unless you are leaving the light on for far to long of a time and keeping it in a postion to backlight the sights at all times. Night sights give you far more options and flexability. |
+1 I love 'em. Both of my Glocks wear them. VERY BRIGHT! Every friend that has seen them on my guns has ended up buying them for theirs. |
are these the ones? Brownells link - # 394-102-318 same as these right? Heine website Sights link |
You will be quite pleased with these Ameriglos. In a blind taste test they presented a verifiable Glo rate of 87.7 uLumens compared to the nominal industrial standard of 87. |

A pro-TRUGLO TFO opinion. They look pretty lame until you shoot with them. They glow during the day (fiber optics) just like they do at night (tritium) so transition is a non-issue: they look the same no matter the lighting conditions. Honestly, and this is taking the advocates into account, I cannot see any difference between the Waren sights and any other black on blacks. What is the difference fellas? TRU-GLO TFO |
Yes. Or these: Race version |
Or if someone is running at you while shooting and shouting "I'm going to kill you muthfucka!". Frankly, I could care less if I could clearly see that guy or not--I'm going to be putting rounds on target the best I can with the aide of night sights. The argument that night sights are useless because you don't have enough light to ID your target is pretty weak. |
Tell that to the SUREFIRE INSTITUTE, fr00t! Additionally, I can't begin to count the times I've had guys running at me while shooting and shouting "I'm going to kill you muthawhatever". It's like a daily occurance.Hey. If you need a psychological crutch... good on ya! If it's so dark out that I can't make out the white dot on my front sight, then I'm either carrying a flashlight or I'm at home climbing out of bed (in which case I'm holding my M4 with TWO FLASHLIGHTS mounted on it. |
Fragile? No. But they sucketh mightily. Personally I am fond of the Heinie sights for Glocks. I use the plain sights and then I paint the front sight with yellow model paint to help pick it up in low light. Works like a charm for me. |
You can get them in different sight heights so as not to adversely effect your aim. |
