[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Gold Sight Inserts?

Hey, folks.

What do people think of gold inserts? I like the 10-8 rear sights, and I was debating a front sight with either a gold or tritium insert. Any thoughts?

I have three guns now that have them.
I actuallly prefer them to night sights or fiber optics. I use gold bead on the front sight, and a typical blade or modified blade rear sight. I have never used anything better for rapid target acquisition.
They also don't tarnish.

YMMV, but I love 'em.

On my favorite 1911, I have an SDM rear "Tactical Target" and a front gold bead sight built by Sams Custom Gunworks. I carry it everyday, and I love it.

They really work.
