Hi guys,

I can finally say I own a 1911.

I bought a loaded SS model PX9151LP.45ACP and am very happy with it.

The gun came with two 7 rd mags and I would like to purchase a few more. Can anyone recommend some aftermarket mags they like or should I stay with SA stuff?

Thanks for the time

Joe

I really like Chip McCormick Magazines. I have never had any problems with 100's of rounds through them. They are also good on price point.

Thanks for the help. I found lots of people like the standard mags, the mcormick you mentioned but I read ALOT of guys like the Wilson combat mags.

Do they still give you the coupon?

What I did was max out on the SAI mags, then got the Tripp Reserach Super 7 upgrade; followers and springs.  Worked out to about $18/mag for me when all was said and done.

Yep, the coupon is in the case. Pretty stupid and old school the way they give you the option of purchasing though. I wish they had a coupon code that can be entered and access the ordering process online.

The upgrade you did, what is the benefit over leaving them stock?

thanks

The two companies you will hear of the most are Wilson Combat and Chip McCormick.  I have run both of them for decades (no Wilson ETM yet, just 47D).  Personally I favor the CMC Power+ magazines.  With Wilson, I have found that the springs wear out faster so I have to replace them more.  I don't mean from sitting there loaded, I mean cycles.  As usual, YMMV.

I've had the most long term reliability with standard 7 round Wilson 47s.

CMC powermags, MecGar, Springer, Kimber, Colt, and ACT mags all work great.

For some reason I've had mixed success with 47D's in my Springers over the years.

I stick with CMC for carry / HD and use MecGar for the range.
