Was wondering what you guys have seen and experienced with wear on your Sig's.
I have 226R that has mostly been lubes with BreakFree CLP, I used TW25B a few times but for most if it's 5,000+ rounds- CLP. Now I have a 229R that has 875 rounds through it and only lubes with TW25B. I am seeing the same wear patterns on the 229 as I have on the 226. So is there really much of a difference? The 229 will continue to get TW25B as it is my CCW piece. I was looking at using the grease on my 226 again but because I shoot/shot it so often CLP was much easier to clean and apply. The gun wasn't sitting on my hip all day so mitigating oil wasn't a concern. Just curious to anyone elses experiences. |

There is a sticky on the top of this forum that goes on and on about how you have to use grease or you will ruin your gun. The pics of anodizing wearing through scared me (mine is worn under the rails Sent my gun into Sig to have the SRT trigger done and have the springs refurbrished. Sent it back to me lubed with oil. There is a video on the sig site explaining how to clean and lube and they use oil. Sig says use oil, so I'm using oil. The anodizing wear hasn't changed at all and I've probably but close to 3,000 more rounds through it. EDIT: Sig Maintanence videos |

I use grease, because I have gone nearly 3,000 rounds without cleaning before, and still had grease on the rails. CLP wouldn't do that.
Now, going that long regularly isn't a good idea, because even with grease, dissolved carbon, dirt, and crud (technical term) in the grease can make it an abrasive. But, slides should get grease. |

I've been using TW 25 B on both of my SIGS and my 1911s with excellent results.
When I use oil on my plastic pistols; I use Breakfree LP instead of CLP, it's much more viscous because it contains no solvents or cleaners so it lubes well and doesn't migrate to where I don't want it. |

Odd how they ship them with TW25b... I've read the sticky from Greyguns. Sigs used to ship with little blue bottles of oil. I still have one. I use Breakfree CLP on my Sigs. I do it because that was how I was taught to do it. Been doing it the same for over 15 years now and have never had any issue with any Sigs due to using oil over grease. This is just my expirence which prob means zero to others. If you properly care for your gun then either will work. |

The Sig Academy instructors recommend Froglube. The new flavor uh Just the best lube available. Link to an expert source that supports that contention? I shoot with a lot of experienced guys who use all sorts of methods to lube their guns including various greases and oils. They all swear by them; as I do for my own preferential method of lubrication, but guess what? We all know there are many great way to lube and products with which to do it. |

And after using both grease and oil like I said, I am seeing the exact same wear patterns. The only thing I am seeing the grease do better is stay put whichbis why I use it for HD guns and CCW guns. Well I am also using it for the internals and rails on long term storage guns. But any weekly shooter gets oil for easy of cleaning/applying and cost. http://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=39115 |

They are speaking about Froglube. This from Sig Academy: We are all sold on your product and as shooter and a gun bunny, any time I find something that works as stated I'm more than happy to pass on to the students. Jeff Creamer is our assistant director and plans on bringing your product into our academy for student purchase. Once again thank you for putting out a great product and for your support!
