I am buying a couple sets of VZ grips for my Kimber Tactical Custom II and I have a couple questions.

My current Kimber grips have the Ambi-safety cut but the safety does not have the foot that protrudes underneath the grip. I have no intentions of installing an Ambi-safety so do I need to order a set with the amb-cut or can I just pass on it?

I am also wondering about the cut. At the very bottom of most VZ grips, there is a small notch cut out and I am wondering if I order a grip with that notch in it, will it expose anything on my 1911 that shouldn't be exposed. I'm assuming no but again, that is why I'm asking everyone here.

Here is the same gun I have. You can clearly see that there is no ambi-safety foot and no notch at the bottom. Thanks for any help in advance .

Here you can see the little notch at the bottom I am questioning.

I have the same gun. you do not need the ambi cut. but you do want the magwell cut.
these are VZ Ailens. green canvis. magwell, mag release notch.

edit: it will not uncover anything that should not be uncovered, it is just the mainspring houseing pin.

yes you can order the grips without the slot. but the safety lever on the right side of the gun will hit the top of the grip. so you will need to make a small cut out for the lever. and the notch on the bottom is just to expose the main spring housing pin. that way to detail strip you don't have to remove the grips.

heres my kimber, see where the top left corner has a notch in it. you will need that for the safety to disengage fully.

Without the magwell cut will something be exposed that is not supposed to be? I really like the operator 2's with the thumb cut but they don't offer them in a full magwell cut. But if I can't change it, oh well.

I do not have the ambi safty cut on mine and have zero issues disengaging the safty.

maybe those grips were to high, but with safety down,  the lever was perfectly in the notch in the grip for me.

so your lever makes zero contact with the grip?

More detail on the safety issue here.

this is the factory kimber lever on a set of VZ golfball grips, lever sits on the grip.

now as you can see on the left side lever, the side that blocks the sear and rides on the plunger, the plunger is not fully seated in the notch in the thumb safety.
