The ends of the spring need to be de-burred. When they are cut, it leaves a sharp edge that can cut a groove into the guide rod.
Light polishing of the spring end takes care of the sharp edges. To keep the pistol original, give Colt a call. They can either get you the parts or should be able to direct you to someone who does have them maybe even these guys: http://www.coltparts.com/pt_o_frameautomatic.html Colt Parts P.O.Box 65641 Vancouver, WA 98665 360-737-2658 Hours 8:00 - 5:00 Pacific Time Monday through Friday edit : Also found this, don't know if it helps........... http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=190826 |

Thanks for the links. I'm going to shoot it first, and see how it works. I'll probably change out the springs just because, and I'll contact the guy up in Washington if I feel the need to change out the guide. I did speak to a nice girl from Colt yesterday. She told me that it was made in 1986. Also told me that they don't have these parts available for older Officers Models. They probably will have some kind of supply system set up for ordering by "the end of the year". When I asked her where I could find them, she just told me to start calling around to places like Brownell's and Midway. (LOL) |
