| I know this is stupid question and but just getting some outside opinions. I work in law enforcement and carry a 226. Well the past year I have stepped up my training with the 226. I recently bought a glock 19 gen 4, and have not put a whole lot of trigger time on it. I love my sig, and don't really wanna give it up, but at the same time i'am shooting the glock 19 better than the 226, so logically thinking if I'm shooting the glock better it would only make sense to go with the glock, holster and gear is not an issue since i have been fortunate to be given the equipment for both. Like I said just looking for some different opinions, and trying to validate to myself of setting the sig down, even though I don't prefer to but I am shooting it better. Thanks |

The ultimate measure of a gun is it's ability to stop the threat. If you shoot the glock more accurately than the sig, then it makes sense to carry the glock. FWIW. ^^This.^^ I don't own a Glock for one reason and one reason only. They. Are. FUGLY! But they're a damned fine piece of engineering, and if you like the results you get from yours...stop questioning yourself. (ETA: You're in law enforcement. Protect your ass out there.) |
| Have you tried an SRT (short reset trigger) on the SIG? I use to shoot them like crap most notably follow up shots. Changed to the SRT and it has been night and day difference. If it is a department gun you likely aren't allowed to swap out parts I would assume? |
| Thanks for the input, no I don't plan on selling the sig. I do have the srt in the 226. Really when I put it up on the shot timer, my times are faster with the glock. So thats really where my problem is that i have invested more time in the sig and so little with the glock yet I do shot it faster not by whole lot, but thats what has me wondering if i should change over to it, and then actually invest the time into it. Thanks. |

What exactly do you mean by you "shoot it better"? Have you tried yourself on a timer, from the holster, from concealed carry, etc? Have you timed yourself on reloads?
Just make sure that your "better" isn't subjective and give it some time. Carry the gun you can run best, but I wouldn't be too quick to totally right off the SIG either. Edit: I just read your second post. Sounds like you are on the right track evaluating yourself, but it also sounds like you are kind of splitting hairs. If I had to guess over time you will fluctuate back and forth for a while between these two guns. |

As an LE officer your handgun and proficiency with it is an integral part of your job, both symbolically and practically.
Select and shoot the one you are most effective with. Sentimentality doesn't have much room when you either live or die by your equipment selection (especially if you had a choice prior to the event and could practice). |
| If your life depends on it, forget what you want to carry, and use what you should carry. Keep it simple. I'm having the same misgivings but with the 229 vs G19. I still can't get comfortable with the DA first shot, but love the SRT. G19 is straightforward and I shoot it pretty well, so I know how you feel. |
| I feel ya. But I'm totally opposite. I have tons of trigger time with my 19 but just recently picked up a 226 extreme and found myself shooting the 226 better. I've been trying to figure it out for myself and have come to the conclusion that i must just be too comfortable with the 19 and put more thought and concentration into the 226 since it is new to me therefore making me more accurate and effective with it. Just the only reason I can come up with. So my opinion (not an expert) is that switching your EDC/duty every so often reminds you to put more concentration into your shooting. Just my$.02 |
