How much thicker are the Gunners compared to standard  wood grips.  Thinking about a set, but not if they are alot thicker.

Might help to post a pic of the grips you are looking at.

There have been numerous pics of the Gunners on this site.  They seem to be wildly popular. Its hard to tell by looking at pics. Also I was interested in finding out if the reported problems with small grip screw holes was ever addressed.

I have a pair made when Rob was still alive...they don't feel any thicker than standard grips...the only "problem" I found was that on my Kimber, the grip might be just a hair loose...solved by putting a small piece of tape over the one bushing making it tight...sharp and literally weld your hand to the pistol...might be harmful to your clothing but that too is solved by lightly sanding them down if you feel you need to...

I got mine about 3 years ago and have no issues with screw holes, fit, etc. on my Kimber.  And siversport isn't kidding about welding the weapon to your hands.  I love them but have a couple of friends that find them too coarse and hard.

I love mine.... If I was ever going to be shooting alot rounds out of them (training class or something), I'd make
sure I wore shooting gloves. For casual shooting or PD scenario, they are perfect. Sweaty wet hands don't matter,
these things are ROCK solid and your hand sticks to them like crazy!

How 'bout it...had a buddy attend a shooting course and he told me his Gunner's were too slick...I told him, I'll take 'em off your hands if you don't want them...still waiting for him to bring 'em in...too slick...

I don't find that they are any thicker at all - and that'd bother me if they were.

Too slick?!  -good one!

My personal opinion, they're the best 1911 grips out there for duty/defense work.  They are thin, thinner than a lot of others.

there's two types of gunner grips.  if you get them off of brownells, they will be the oval cut ones.  these one's weren't grippy at all, just sharp.  i sent them back.  (they're made by a company that's contracted out by simonich)  to answer your question, the oval cut one's were thicker than the wood grips they replaced.

you can still get the original golf ball cut ones from simonich's website.  i've never tried these one's though, but everyone seems to love them.
