I want to like the Guuners on my Operator, but I'm having a hard time warming up to them. These fuckers really start to hurt after a hundred rounds or so. Bothered me so much today that I took them off and put the wood SA grips on it to finish the day. My shooting suffered a bit as a result of these things as well.

I'm debating between knocking the points down with sandpaper, or selling them and just getting another set of Diamondbacks or Operators. Any of you guys have this problem? What did you do?

If they don't work for you, might as well just get rid of them.

I have to wonder though, how firmly you grip the pistol? Gunners don't abrade the strong hand, but depending on the strength of your weak hand, the gun may rotate or shift during recoil, causing irritation.

I love my Gunners and my three 1911s all wear them.  That being said, the pair on my Kimber are the sharpest compared to the other two.

They can be dulled a bit with some fine grit sandpaper, as suggested in the packaging.

Just dull them with sandpaper.  I did and they work just fine for me.

I bet Burt Gummer wouldn't be complaining about his Gunner grips

I picked up a set of VZ operator grips on the 1911 forum EE to try out. A quality grip, but I prefer my sharper Gunner grips.

Black? I have a set of green gunners if you're interested.

The thought crossed my mind If yours were black, I'd swap. I'm not sure I like the green color. Yes, my Operator grips are black.

I don't care for the gunner grips myself.

Although I do like the AGGRESSIVE operators that John makes.

I think I'm gonna get a set and sell the gunners on the EE.

Oh yeah, you've got IM.

You can sand them, but I decided against sanding mine. They wore down eventually.

they are pretty aggressive--for casual shooting, i prefer the VZ's papers myself

Gunners on my Commander and Gov't model, just a little sanding to break the sharpness.  No problems shooting 300 rounds in one day of training at Gunsite.

I noticed that there is quite a bit of difference in between the green/black and the tan versions I have a few set's of both and the green/black are like daggers compared to the tan.

fine sandpaper and they smooth out very easily.  I didn't like my ranger green grips at first, but I applied some slip2000 to them and they darkened up nicely and look OD now.

They're a little too sharp for me.
I prefer the VZ Diamondbacks..
All my 1911's wear them.
