I was thinking about getting one of these but they seem kind of pricey $110. I figured it would make a good nightsand security box and be easy to access. ANybody recommend them? JMN69 |

Yep, worth the money for peace of mind and quick access. I have a 1911 and USP9mm in mine. Love it. When the batteries die it won't shut so you can always get to your guns. Wonderful feature. The only misgivings I have is that it is small enough to be carried off easily. I personally use and reccomend one. |

I’ve got a rather old one that I’m happy with. Still they do seem to be pricey for what you get. My two complaints: First – the door opens almost violently, and pretty noisily unless you cushion it with your hand. Second - it seems to go through batteries pretty quickly. Also, these are fairly hard to get at to replace. Plus when you swap out batteries it reverts back to the default combination. |

I was thinking of getting one so I emailed the company to ask about country of orgin, here is the reply: "Rod, Our Gun Vault is made in China and our safes are made here in the US and in Mexico. -----Original Message----- From: Information Request [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, October 15, 2006 12:08 PM To: Gun Vault Customer Inquiry Subject: Gun Vault Customer Inquiry" |
When the batteries in mine die, it locks shut and you have to use the key to reopen. The batteries last about 9 months, I think I've changed mine three times, twice it reset my keypad combo when I reset the batteries. here's how much faith my wife has in it, If I'm gone for some reason and she has to stay at home, she unlocks it before she goes to bed, because the one time she wanted to open it the FREAKIN batteries were dead and she had to use the key. This was my last electronic lock purchase. |

Batteries dying sucks, here is a mechanical safe that I plan on getting. I'm tired of changing batteries. Of course if you can plug it in, thats a good thing... www.handgunsafe.com/safes.htm |

I ended up getting the small size "deluxe" gunvault model from Ebay for $108 shipped. I guess this one should be OK because you can plug it into the wall and when the batteries get weak it has an audible alarm. The standard model doens't have these features so I guess is more prone to failure due to dead batts. That mechanical safe sure looks nice too. $180 though, yikes! JMN69 |
