Just my opinion: If we are talking the 'classic' P-series Sigs, of German origin and with the rolled-steel slides, Sig wins hands down. If we are talking about the new stainless-slide Sigs, some made in Exeter, HK wins hands down. Sig used to make a few models exceedingly well. Now that they have adopted the S&W 'model of the month' system, I think the quality of their core models (P226,220, and RIP 228) has suffered. HK, on the other hand, still makes sorta-overpriced polymer-framed pistol with no models having noteworthy faults or problems (that I have heard of.) We'll see if the P30/HK45 live up to the hype, but the USPs and P2000s have proven to be reliable. |
There is the answer. I own a Sig. My bro owns both. |
We get a choice of whether or not we want an external safety. I consider the choice of multiple variants a big plus for HK. The only downside to HK is stocking spare parts. It can be very hard to get spares unless the gun breaks and you send it back. I do have a 229 I enjoy as well. |
Hey, anyone can pull a trigger.. but it takes a real man to thumb the safety down! |

I have a number of SIGs and HKs. They are both great weapons. I would trust my life and the lives of my kids to either one. I like SIGs because: 1. They have a great all-metal trigger. 2. I like the trigger reset better (after the GGI CRRAP package). 3. I like the ability to switch grips. The Hogue finger grip is my favorite, but the Crimson Trace SIG grips are good as well. 4. I like the SIG mag release very much. 5. Although heavy, metal is good. I like HKs because: 1. They are precision instruments and are very reliable. 2. They are lighter than SIGs. 3. They are very accurate right out of the box. 4. My P2000 has changeable backstraps to just match your handsize. HKs are very ergonomic and fit my hand very well. 5. The HK lightrails look better than the ones now on SIGs. 6. HKs tend to have less recoil that other pistols of the same caliber. |
LEM is AWESOME! HK hands down. Page 2 ownage! |

HK. Why? Simple. -Finish is infinitely better -Quality control *especially in later models* is much more consistent -Condition one -SA trigger pull doesn't feel like a sponge *though sig's DA pull has HK beat* -Will eat all types of ammo from underpowered crap to +p+ -Incredible accuracy -Glock-like reliability -Forgiving design- run it wet, dry, dirty, whatever. Personally, I have no reason to ever own another Sig again. IMHO, HK just designs and builds better guns throughout the entire process. |
+1 but w/ Sig's current production QC and CS, i'd take HKs |
