Gentlemen, I am considering HP for CCW use and I have some questions I like the $400 price tag for the HP Mk III at CDNN but (based on what I read) I am not sure that I would like the SFS (Safety Fast System). I prefer to carry in condition 1. Can I remove the SFS? Should I make any modifications (trigger work, hammer change, etc) before carrying? Any thing else about HP's I should know? Thanks, The Bald Monk |

The SFS still allows Condition 1, mostly. Basically, instead of flipping up the thumb safety, you push down on the hammer. When you disengage the thumb safety, the hammer pops back into the cocked position. I think FN's ideal was to have the hammer appear to be in an uncocked position, when in reality the action is still cocked. mm |

CDNN has the single action non SFS Hi-Powers for the same price, but only in .40. You lose 3 - 5 rounds in the mag, depending on mag type, but unlike other gun platforms that can handle 9 or .40, there is not any noticeable difference in recoil. desertmoon and I were discussing how little recoil there is in the .40 version. I like 9mm specifically for it's low recoil, and the Hi-Power recoils flat. The .40 Hi-Power recoils so flat, it's substantially more controllable than a Glock 22 for me. If the 10 round capacity doesn't bother you, you should consider this gun. You might be pleasantly surprised. |
I'm sorry, but can you explain that again? |
Have you checked their website lately? 75% of the links just don't work (unclickable) and the search function is frozen. WTF? |
Load up the pistol as normal. To place it on safe, push the hammer forward. When you push the hammer forward, the thumb safety will move into "SAFE" position. When you disengage the thumb safety, the hammer will move back to it's "cocked" position. mm |

![]() don't let the naysayers dissuade you. There is nothing wrong with carrying a HiPower. I've been carrying one for a long time now. I don't like the SFS system, but that's just me. When it comes down to it, with all the steel guns available there is no reason to carry some "modern" piece of plastic. With all the 9mm's available there is no reason to carry a .40. With all the .40s available there is no reason to carry a 9mm. With all the .45s available there is no reason to carry either. See where I'm going with this? Carry what works best for YOU. For *me* it's a HiPower in .40 S&W. |
