It's the same exact gun except the lands and grooves one can shoot lead. The safety is also different as instead of UP position for safety on, it would be down on the P8. Just opposite of what Americans are used to as on a 1911 gun. HK USA also wont warranty the P8 by the way. |

As production began in 1993, several improvements were made to the USP series as necessary. In September, 1994, the recoil spring was made as part of a captive assembly, rather than loose at one end. In November, 1994 the barrel was changed from conventional land and groove to polygonal bore profile. Improved trigger pull introduced in the latter half of 1995.
