H&R (Harrington & Richardson) started making revolvers in the 1870s. Most were fairly crude and cheap. By the 1980's they mostly mag 22 and H&R 32 mag revolvers. Again, they were fairly crude and cheap. A couple revolvers were pretty decent including their Model 999 which was a break open type. They also made some western style 22s which were both double and single action. By 1986 they were out of buisness with the assets and name eventually sold to Marlin who continued making the single shot shotguns.
This particular pistol was bought in about 1983 or 84 new for about $100. It is a double action with case hardened frame, adjustable sights, wood grips and an additional 22 mag cylinder. The double action trigger is horrendiously heavy while the single action is pretty decent. I actually bought it for my father in law back in the day. He shot it once and it's been in my gun safe ever since.
One rarely sees them anymore so I thought I would share. The photo below is off of one of gun auction sights but it exactly like the one I am talking about.

They are very nice pistols, my favorite is the 9 shot top break .22.

I have a 949 and love the little gun. I usually carry it squirrel hunting when I take a shotgun. I also take it with me on hikes.

I also had a 949 which I carried while deer hunting. Sold it to my brother but wish I'd of kept it. They are a bit crude and unrefined but good solid guns.

I have a 929 that is fun to shoot. Kind of dirty right now. I will clean it and put a picture up soon.

I have a 922 that used to belong to my dad:
It's a DA revolver. The DA pull is really heavy, but SA is actually pretty decent. You have to push the empties out w/ something, like a SA revolver (only no loading gate). I still haven't found ammo that will make it shoot to POA, though. Need to find some standard velocity stuff, maybe...
