I have found that rattlesnakes have moved into my area and I thought these might be the answer to carry in a .357.  I had some 9mm shotshells several years ago and they didn't cycle consistantly enough that I'd trust in crunch time. Anyone ever use these in .357? Where is the best place to get them. Natchez don't show them and my local walmart doesn't carry them either. Thanks in advance.

i think midway has them.
you are right they don't cycle.  but then they don't have to.

the best way to kill a snake is to chop it up with a hoe.
if you can get some 22lr shotshells to shoot them out of a 22lr rifle.
stick the barrel next to the snakes head and fire.

all pistol shot shells are almost point weapons.
a big 6' rattler can strike 2-3 feet so you can get very close to them
at 6 feet they will do the job.  but that is too close to some people.  i have killed them with rocks at that distance.
don't expect them to work at 5 yds.  if you want that kind of range i would get a 410 shotgun.

Taurus makes several nice ones that also shoot 45 colt.  they will work great if you don't want to get close.

I really want to use some type of handgun so I can have my hands free while still working. I don't want to drag a shotgun all over the farm with me. I certainly hope not to get to close and I was hopeing the .357 shotshell would work out to 6-7 yards. The rattlers I have found lately are in the 2' to 3' long range.

Another  reason I would prefer a handgun with shotshell  is that while I"m away most of the day working I would like to have something the wife could use if one finds it's way into the garage or some other place the young kids are playing. She does fine with a revolver but her hoe and shovel skills lack somewhat.

2-3 feet?  you can easily kill it with a T post or a pair of fencing pliers.
if you have to have a gun look at this

you can step on them and crush them with snake boots.
but i would not try it.

good luck.

we have them in our area.

Get one of those long reach claw things, get a cloth sack with a draw string.

Place snake into bag, put bag in freezer.

Snake goes in to stasis and then dies peacefully. ( threw that in for you animal lovers)

After a couple hours you can take the snake out skin it, head and everything.

Tan the hide.

Lots of info on the net on how to skin a snake.

Cook the meat, best marinated and BBQ. Spicy

there used to be a company that would sell the cups and you filled them with your own shot to relood your own shotshells...

are they still around?

Snakes are becoming an issue near Southern Alberta, adn I holiday down there, can't get preloaded shotshells up here

Empty Shot Capsules

With our shot capsules, you can create custom shotshells to fire in your favorite revolver. They're excellent for short-range pest control. Fill the plastic capsule with with your favorite shot size, and load much like a conventional bullet. A flexible base wad seals the bore to prevent gas loss, and the rigid capsule is designed to break up on the rifling. Loading data is on the package. Available for 38 Special and 357 Magnum, 44 Special and Magnum, and 45 Colt.

Not recommended for assembling self defense ammunition. Not for use in firearms having ported recoil compensators.
