I am looking to buy my first 1911. I'd like something with;

Standard Government Model
Parked, or coated (not interested in any stainless)
Light rail
No PC crap like firing pin block or internal lock
Price range 700-900
Sights don't matter as they will probably get changed out anyway

As to internal or external extractor, I see most 1911's I've looked at now have external. I'm not biased one way or the other, I just want something reliable.

Any suggestiong?

I'm not sure there's a whole lot of options with those features in your price range.

Something like the Kimber Warrior would work (rail, no safety crap) but is a bit beyond your stated range.  Springfield's MC Operator would also fit the bill but is ~$1300 or so.

Both the SIG and S&W use external extractors and come with firing pin safety systems.  Colt Rail Gun is $1000 but also has a firing pin safety.

The Rock Island Tactical would probably be the best bang for your buck.

The S&W E Series 1911s do not have any firing pin block; it was done away with for the E Series but is still present in earlier model S&W 1911s.

They are excellent, accurate guns for the money and within your budget and Smith and Wesson's customer service is IMO second to none.

How about a Springfield Range Officer and add a light rail at another time?

I have the Taurus PT1911 Aluminum Railed version and it is a sweet shooter, I bet some people are going to hate on my post or discredit the gun but for my experience it has worked flawlessly. I have about 1000 rounds through it and the only malfunction I had was with a new 10 round mag because it was loaded fully and i had the slide closed condition 1 inserted the mag and went to fire and first round fired but the slide stuck back becasue the pressure from the magazine wouldn't let the slide push the round out, just gave it a little tap and worked fine after that. Good gun!
