Hey all!
So I have recently finished my AR-15 build and now I am in the market for a handgun. I have narrowed my choices down to a few that I really like. My budget is 700 dollars and I was hoping someone who owns one or more of the pistols I am about to list would help me decide. It will be a purely Go To War handgun. My choices (so far):
CZ SP-01
CZ-SP-01 Phantom
CZ P-09
Canik TP9SF Elite (Not yet Releasd)
As you can see, I really like CZ's. I have had an opportunity to shoot an SP-01 at a gun range and I really really liked it. I don't like glocks. It's just personal preference. I know they are great guns but I do not like the grip angle. The G17 and G19 were just  not comfortable to me. If anyone could help me decide,or give me advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You can't go wrong with the SP-01 or P-09, unless you decide that you want to CCW and realize they're too big.

This.... You could split the difference and just get a P-07 roughly similar size to the G19.  It has good capacity and is much lighter than a P-01 or SP-01.
If it is going to be a range toy SP-01 was my choice.

What they said. I carry my P-07 with the flush fit mag and when I want to go to the range or am carrying OWB I use mags with the +2 base pad, this gives me 17 rounds and the same size grip as a P-09 when not concealed.

CZ-75 classic. But yeah the SP-01 version looks nice with the longer dust cover with rail mount for a light.

Everything you have listed is a very large full-size gun.  As others have recommended, I would suggest you look at things in the G19 size category.  The P07 and CZ Compacts are closest to the models you listed.  You've got a good budget so you wont be short on options.  Think quality, mid-size, and 9mm for the first gun.

My first hand gun was Colt Delta Elite and i bought it for around $700 (this is pre new model ones)

Although I love CZs id personally look on the used market and see what is being sold. As of now for a while it will be a buyers market. Might be able to get a steal for a gun worth much more than your budget

CZ-75 SP-01

If you are going to use the DA or are getting the tactical model, get the Cajun Gun Works Ultra-Lite Self Defense Firing Pin Kit. It will cut the DA in half. It's $44.

I also prefer the Mec-gar mags so you should sell the factory mags and buy a few of the 19 round mec-gars for 19+1. 20 rounds of 9mm in an ultra-reliable and accurate 9mm. What else can you ask for in a home defense handgun?

Now, if you want to carry, nix this and get a CZ-P-01. Use the 19 rounders for home defense and the standard 14 rounders for carry. I decided I wanted a dedicated HD gun and I wanted it to be big, heavy and reliable. So I went with the SP-01 tactical, threw in some CGW parts, added a TLR-1 and Mec-Gar 19+1. I bought a PCR for carry.

Not a match, I'd say.

For $700 you could buy
2 TP9SA's. They are hard
to beat for the money.

Mine are incredibly accurate
for that price range. Good
trigger's & capacity, also.

Also, I resisted Glocks for
years because of the grip
angle, as well. The Grip
Force Adapters fixed that
for me.

You know I am all for Glocks but some people just have a hard time adjusting to the Glock hump no fault of their own.  My neighbor who I shot with all the time has tiny elf hands and even a Gen4 Glock with no backstap does not fit in his hand very well.  He loves the Glock but fit to him just does not work.  I would never hesitate to recommend a Glock but I would never encourage someone to buy a Glock I would only encourage them to buy what fits the mechanics of them.  For me it feels like Gaston took a mold of my hand to make the Glock grip.
Honestly for me the best feeling handguns are Glocks, Sig P22x (non-E2), HK P7, CZ 75/SP-01 but on the flip side I do not like the XD(sold mine) and M&P(own a full size and compact).  All preference and what works for me vs anyone else.

Sorry to hijack, but how hard is it to install this firing pin kit?  MY CZ SP-01 Tactical is my first 9mm, my home defense gun, and my range toy.  But the DA pull is stout, and if it's easy to bring it down, I'll seriously look into it.  I just don't want to damage the thing.  I can take an AR apart, but never tried a pistol.
