I'm having a hell of a time finding a pistol I read about in a magazine a few months ago. I don't remember the shop name, manufacturer or ever what magazine I read the article in. I do remember it was very expensive, haha. What I do remember is the really unique feature about the pistol. The sights. The sights were built in to the slide... inward. I've heard this called a "sight gutter" or "guttered sights". I don't think these are the right terms. They're sights just like on my S&W Model 58 and my LCR. Low profile, nothing to hang up on etc. I'm trying to find a quality 1911 with similar sights. Any help is appreciated. |

Thanks Osprey. What I was looking at was similar to that, but my memory tells me it was still a typical three-dot style sight too. This is driving me crazy haha, I know I haven't completely lost it. ![]() I'll start searching "sight channel" to see what I can come up with. |

Thanks guys... we're getting warm, but still not there. The TiKi is a bit too exotic, and the particular 1911 I'm thinking of is not a Kimber and is a new gun. It was featured in a magazine over the summer (or maybe the spring), whoever it was had a nice big two-paged color photo of two pistols from this particular custom shop. I just remember being intrigued by the sights and thinking they were great looking pistols and wanted to know more about them. I was put off by the price (about $2000+) but am now looking at such a purchase, so I want to go over them again. This is going to drive me nuts... |

Thanks Bossman. That's close to what I'm looking for. I'm still looking for the custom shop that does similar work on 1911s. I know I saw the article recently. I remember seeing on their page of shop services that they could do it with any slide too. I just wanted to do more research on their pistols again. :) |

So I hate to revive such an old thread, but I FINALLY found what I was looking for... Tussey Customs ![]() That was the magazine article I read. He buried HiViz and XS sights "in the trough" and made some sweet low-profile sights. A bit expensive at $360 to do it, but still pretty cool. Figured I'd share and pass along the info I finally found. ![]() |
