All the choices from the top builders are killing me! I'm not new to handguns or CCW but I've only fired a limited rounds through a 1911 (my stepfathers Remington 1911A1). I've carried either a P220 or P226 the last few years and while I think they are both great handguns I want a 1911. I was planning on getting a Springfield or Kimber and building it up as I go but then I figured I'm in no rush and I may as well pay up and get exactly what I want to begin with. So my choices are:
Wilson CQB or a Nighthawk Talon or Nighthawk GRP.
I know from reading these forums that all are good handguns and I probably wont be dissatisfied with any of them but I'd like to get the Arf.com feelings on these shooters before I jump in.

Edit: FYI I'm going for a fullsize pistol with a standard length guide rod and plug for CCW.

I like the CQB and the GRP and it would truthfully come down to which one I could find ready for delivery at the best price.

I would advise caution Re: Nighthawk!

I had one custom built and was dismayed with the poor workmanship.

This said gun has been returned for rework.

I understand they have great CS.

M4_Man what problems did you have with your Nighthawk? I know you said poor workmanship but what specifically? Fit, finish, reliability???

Thanks yours is the type of answer I'm looking for.

Rather than a whole write up, I'll link you to my original review. PG 2 has the photos.

Pics are only visible to members, and since some of us [ahem] have been banned from the 1911 forum could you repost the pics here? It would be greatly appreciated.

Sure

Here is the lower corner of the bobtailed Mainspring housing (inverted Photo)

Difficult to photograph the checkering was an amature job at best.

Corner of ambi safety was left sharp and scored the hardchrome finish.

Firing pin stop was fitted loosly and allows the extractor to clock resulting in erratic ejection and the slide to occasionaly attempt to close on an empty.

This gun did not display one, but MANY workmanship issues not worthy of a $3600 price tag.

In all fairness, I brought these issues to the attention of Craig (one of the owners of NH) and he committed to making things right.

I sold a Baer TRS and a Wilson CQB to buy a Springer Professional. Don't waste your time and get the best 1911 for $2500. It is fitted like a swiss watch.
