I bought an IJ70 yesterday that has had a Federal Arms 9X18 stainless steel threaded barrel already installed.
I'm looking for a thread protector and know that the threads are 1/2X32 (as per the gunsmith at the store I bought it from). I don't know the outer diameter of the barrel but It appears to be around 0.5". The bottom of the threads does have a 'gap' with not threads which I assume is for a set screw to push against. Does anyone here know what the outer barrel diameter is and if there is a source for a thread protector for it? I've tried Googling Federal Arms information for a total of an hour and I just can't find any good information on this. I'd like to keep this barrel but it would be nice to have a thread protector on it. I welcome any input or advice. |

I could have sworn there was some detailed technical info about this on Makarov.com but when I went to check just now, not only could I not find any reference, it looks like the website has been changed a little too.
I'll keep an eye out. Good luck finding the info you need. |

go here, http://www.trosusa.com/
contact Mark McWIllis there. he should have some already, if not he'll make it. if its the old Federal Arms Corp (Fac) barrel. its a plane stainless steel barrel make in South Korea using a weeker stainless steel. there was some FBI sting involving the Makarov with FAC threaded barrels a while back, it led to the company going out of business. |

I sent you an IM. Any problems with the barrel ie. do they wear out faster? |
