I'm having trouble taking apart my Automag III. I got the slide off but cannot get the barrel bushing, the recoil guide and the barrel apart. The bushing is very stiff. Can only move it with a plastic rod and a brass hammer. Does this have to come out before the guide rod can be taken out or is there anouther way to solve this?

Also, does anyone have a copy of a manual I may get? I can send you money for a photocopy or can read a scan file?

Thanks

Its a 1911.
You need to depress the spring end (just below the
bushing and rotate said bushing 90 or 180 degrees ( I cant remember ) to remove it.
** WATCH IT when you rotate the bushing!!
Hold on to the bushing and the other hand on the slide against the spring. Also on the other end of that spring there is a small pin in the center of that plate. That pin is also spring loaded and is a pain to find when it leaves its home.
I'll look to see if I still have a copy of the manual on my pc. (I sold my automag a year ago.

I finally got it. Alas, the spring escaped. I did see the pin. Hopefully I can find it. IF not, maybe I can cut a new one.

What a pain.

The bushings on those things are really tight. I had a buddy fabricate a bushing wrench for mine.
