Hey guys,

I just ordered a Storm Lake threaded barrel for my TRP. I'm not a big 1911 guy so I did some research about installing it and it seems I may or may not need some additional parts. Can someone enlighten me? What do I need to get this bad boy to fire reliably?

The TRP model I own is: PC9105LP
This is the Storm Lake threaded barrel I purchased: Storm Lake Threaded Barrel on Midway

How do I get them to work together?

Thanks guys!

You'll have to fit it to your slide.

I'm not sure what part of NV you're in, but if you're ever in the Vegas area, swing by New Frontier Armory and ask for Brad. He's a master gunsmith and he specializes in 1911s. He can hand fit your parts for you to exacting tolerances. He has a pretty quick turn around and he's always a pleasure to talk to.

Is that it?

Did I purchase the correct barrel?

It will probably require a little filing to the barrel lugs to fit it to your slide. You can have a gunsmith do it if you don't feel comfortable with the task. If you decide to do it yourself just take it slow and check the barrel to slide fit often.

You will need to fit the barrel lugs to the slide, you may also need to get a barrel link and pin that fits your slide stop (they come in different sizes), finally you may have to fit the bushing to the slide.

Considered going through this when I bought my Osprey with the .578 x 28 thread, decided to go with a USP 45 Tactical instead, bought  a 16 x 1 piston for it. Silencer is still in jail.

Can I send out JUST the barrel and slide? Who do you guys recommend I send them to with quality work and a decent turn-around time?

SACS and Alchemy will both do it, Alchemy is better but I don't know what their backlog is currently.

When fitting a new barrel, you will need the frame to make sure that the feed ramp on the frame lines up with the barrel... unless it's a ramped barrel.
