| I'm looking at getting a high cacacity .45 ACP. My top 3 choices are a Springfield XD, Paraordnance Big Hawg, or Glock 21. Any advice from those who own any of these,or any others would be appreciated. |
| I have handled the three you listed and I went with the Springfield XD Compact in .45acp as it fit my hand the best. The nice thing about the Compact version is I can use the shorter mags for packing in my Maxpedition Versipack and have the full length mags for additional ammo. |

i have/had all three with the minor exception of my PO being the 14.45 LDA.
btw, the XD45 was one of my latest acquistions. At frist the trigger sucked royal, but after 2~300 rounds, its has smoothed up alot and i will say that i like it alot better then the G21. for me, it also points better too. i still have the XD and PO. sold the G21 after our local PD had problems with them. me no likie KBs. |

I had a G21 in the past, wasn't terribly thrilled with it.
Sold it, and now picked up a G21 SF. I absolutely love it. Night and day difference, simply because I get a better grip and the trigger reach is closer. You should also check out HK. For .45 hi-caps, you're NOT going to find anything better than HK's and Glock's offerings. |
| I have owned Paras. They are fine for range or home defense, but they are unwieldy for anything but shoulder carry and that is limited by season and dress. I am reading a rash of bad things about the G21 SF, and the original is built for the ham-handed only. As such, that leaves the XD and the HK. Take your pick. |

I’ve fired HKs, XDs, and Glocks in this category.
They are all nice choices, but my choice is the G21… http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=5&f=4&t=13658 |
| I went with the XD 45 Compact and I never regretted it once! The option of carrying 10+1 concealed or 13+1 open/at the range is unmatched by any. Plus the trigger, for me, was much smoother than the Glock and the Glock's grip angle was awkward. Plus the safety features and accessories you get with the XD can't be beat! |

My 21SF, which I picked up 25OCT08, has been flawless with roughly fifteen hundred rounds through it. I went with the standard rail and magazine release option. |

FNP45 16 rounds of 45 goodness +1 Mine is by far the most accurate handgun I've ever shot. Plus to my knowledge, no one else makes a .45 cal handgun that holds 15 rounds in the mag. Para has an extended floorplate, which allows for 15+1 capacity with standard springs (and I have heard of at least 16+1 with tweaked springs that I would never consider on a carry gun). When you carry a freaking hog leg that big and heavy, the concealment disadvantage with the thick floorplate becomes moot. |

The HK might be overall better but it's also $400 more bucks. |
