I have always wanted a Hi Power and got a email from JG for used Argentine FM 90 hi-power. Right now Iam tight for funds but I do have enough to buy this, with that being said any opinions would be helpful and also can you use regular hi power mags in these? Thanks and here is the link:

Thanks and here is the link: FM hi power Yes, all Hi-Power parts interchange. They are a good buy. Finish isn't blued but the are solid hi-powers. If I bought one I would replace the grips with some wood grips and add some higher capacity magazines and call it good. |

I just ordered on of the Very Good ones.... The finish is kinda funky on these... (from the ones I have seen), So I will likely strip it and duracoat it when it comes in anyway.
FM of Argentina is said to make a good pistol, I have a Belgium mark III, but it is too pretty for a daily carry gun.... why I bought this one. I'll post up when it comes in. I did buy one of the FM "detective" kits (Think kinda like a 1911 commander!), from Sportsmans Guide when they had 'em, so it will be a natural on this piece! Fred |

After owning one for a while, they are a solid buy. That said the first thing one should do is change out springs, Wolff has a service pack for like $15, cheap insurance imo. The stock springs leave a little bit to be desired. Did a little work to mine: http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t274/Tomb007/P5290084.jpg Looks really good, did you do the stippling yourself? |

I've done some research on these pistols, and discovered the following:
1. By and large, they are a good buy. These are not simply a wanna-be version of the Hi-Power...these are actually a licensed copy of the Hi-Power, built in Argentina on FN-provided tooling. 2. As such, it has the pluses - and the minuses- of the original Hi-Power. A steady diet of +P ammo is probably not a good idea. 3. Several of the people who bought guns from this particular J&G batch, complained that the front sight went flying off the gun after shooting just a few mags. WTF?!?
4. The finish is so-so. You eventually may want to have a new finish put on it. All in all, a good buy. Considering that these costs about $300, and the original Hi-Power cost $800, these are a bargain. Especially if you refinsih the gun and give it a trigger job, you will have a damn fine Hi-Power. |

<>. Any more info on this? source maybe? That would be a major frustration, but, fwiw, J&G has a 30 day inspection period, and SOG "guaruntees satisfaction". I certainly wouldn't hesitate to send one back if that happened to me, and I'm pretty confident both those dealers would refund or exchange the pistol. |

WTF?!?
