| What is this pistol I saw briefly in an article in the NRA magazine? |
|
Okay, I'm not any authority on this, but IIRC, the factory-built pistol was only made by Argentina, which had an FN-licensed factory called "FM". Same place that made the Argentine Hi-Power fullsize models. I'm pretty sure that this concept was originally done as a custom pistol by Austin Behlert. Don't know how many he made, or if he did it before the Argentinians did theirs, but I think Behlert was first to do it. |

Several custom jobs out there, but the only factory made model WAS built by FM, but I believe it was after contracts ran out, they were just building them. The slide does not have the traditional browning relief cuts on it. Basically it's a Hi-power Commander, if you want to think of it that way. Grip frame and internals are just like the regular hi-power, but the slide and barrel are basically an inch shorter. I picked one up a couple years ago and am very happy with it. They also sold just the top ends for conversions of regular hi-powers or clones if you wanted to go that route. Last I saw of them was almost a year ago from Sarco. |

Sarco had them, and should again when they get their license renewal straightened out. www.sarcoinc.com I have a detective slide conversion, and it has run fine on a BHP .40 frame. No failures. For custom conversions, Cylinder and Slide is awesome. www.cylinder-slide.com/billspathfinder.shtml |
