He is my first attempt at 1911 building. It is an Essex frame, Springfield slide, & various other parts. hope the link works.

That looks amazing for something you built yourself.  (How did you fit the slide to the frame?)



I know a gunsmith that will do Bo-Mar cuts for $45 and high cut 30 LPI frontstrap checkering for $125.  

With that you would have a pretty well-rounded custom build.

I just hand lapped the slide & frame with some find valve grinding compound. Took a long time but it is tight. Once I get around to getting a phase converter I am goin to get my mill running. Then I'll flat top & serrate the slide as well as make new sight cuts. I think I am goin to tackle the front strap myself eventually also.... Just somethin to learn on. Not my last for sure.
