OK so a buddy of mine was talking about his glock today and saying that he thinks he might have to send it to Glock to get it looked at. So I ask why and he shows me this:

Here are a couple of wear points on the frame.

This is a 22 and since I don't have a full-size just a baby I couldn't answer him; did tell him to clean the damn thing though. He has had this for ten years and worn on-duty for everyday of that ten.

I did get home and tear apart my 27 and it appears to have the beginings of the same kind of marks. So what say you Glock experts is this normal wear and tear for a Glock.

Normal for G22s and 23s...it is self limiting and will stop after a while.

Slide peening normal contact with the locking block, knock off the high spots with a stone or file when it gets rough and jagged.

And just in case anyone is wondering, same on the 17s

SAME THING ON THE MOD 22 I CARRIED FOR 16 YEARS AS A DUTY WEAPON. MINE EVEN HAD WHAT APPEARED TO BE VERY SMALL CRACKS IN THE POLYMER FRAME NEAR THE LOCKING BLOCK. CONTACTED GLOCK AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. HAVE SINCE UPGRADED TO A 3RD GEN MOD22 ONLY TO BE ABLE TO CARRY WITH A TAC LIGHT.

Im glad someone else has this problem too, I noticed it on my 35 the other day too, I examined all over and just couldn't figure out how it was doing that.

In addition to the "normal" slide peening (If proper recoil spring weight is used, peening is mitigated), looks to me like the corner of the locking block has broken off.  If the locking block is broken, I'd replace it.

FWIW, Glock's redesigned the locking blocks so that peening isn't "normal" anymore.
