The 5.5" SBH is considered by many to be the best of the Supers as it is easy to carry, balances rather nicley (fluted cylinder), and is exceptionally strong. I have run a 320 cast to 1320fps in the 5.5" S/A Rugers chambered for the 44 Mag with published data. If you are going to load on the strong side The 4 5/8" and the 5.5" Supers use the Blackhawk gripframe, if you buy diff grips you need the ones for the BH. The three screw with the Black Powder Chamfer looks good. |
Thanks for the informative post. |

I have a nice 5 1/2" SS SBH. It is the best made Ruger single action I have. I put smooth Eagle Gunfighter grips on mine. It allows the gun to rotate without tearing up my hand. Mine weighs a very packable 43.5 oz. For those who want to really firewall the .44 mag, there is the 5 1/2" Redhawk. Mine shoots very nicely and with Pachmayr Presentation grips weighs a recoil absorbing 53.5 oz. |
