I picked up this Star M43 recently. It's in perfect condition and shoots flawless, but the previous owner appears to have drifted the front sight quite a bit. It's pretty accurate after I compensate for it. I've never had to/could mess with a sight before (92fs).
So how do I move the front sight?
Thanks!

If they used loctite, you may have to heat it with a soldering iron or a quick pass with a blowtorch to heat the metal, then tap with a punch and hammer on the side that's flat and closest to the slide within the site groove.

I usually put tape on the spot I'm hitting with the punch to lessen dings on the sight.    Try it first without heating, they may have just tapped it over.

I usually put the slide in a vise.  But if you don't have a vise, you can put the slide on the floor with a few sheets of newspaper to prevent the slide from getting dinged, and tap from the top.

Some people may recommend a site drifting tool, but I've never broken any tritium viles or sights by just tapping with a hammer and punch.  You may ding it a bit though.  I just sharpie marker in any minor dings after.

You can also take it to a gunsmith who has a sight pusher and have it push it back into the middle.

I put it in a vise and used the punch and hammer technique. Worked perfectly with no dents or scratches.
Thanks a bunch!
