Please tell me all the reasons I'll be happier if a get a G19 over a Springfield XD or M&P 9mm. How much does the trigger pull improve after polishing? The trigger seems to be the only negative I can find from anybody I've talked to.

You'll be happier with the G19 because it will work for over 10,000 rounds without replacing springs, magazines are cheap, replacement parts are cheap, the slide won't rust or corrode, the bore axis is lower so there is less perceived recoil, the trigger reset is much shorter. You find the GLOCK trigger to be a negative, yet you're looking at both the XD and the Smith? Both of those have a pretty bad trigger, in my opinion. By your statement, you haven't tried one yet. Find somewhere that will rent you guns, and give them a try. |
You Won't! Get the Springfield XD! |

first, get the one that you feel fits YOU best second, each trigger is different: glock: shorter reset, crisper break, less play h/w: the contour of it sucks imo (just not naturally formed like the XD's longer curved trigger), and it takes a little longer of a finger to pull XD: great trigger ergos, too loose mechanically and the reset kinda bites M&P: pretty damn nice trigger--not too bad on the reset and its ergos are pretty good also now, these are all stock triggers i speak of, and glock trigger jobs (3.5 disconnect, etc) and smiths to work on em are more plentiful the ONLY negative that i can speak about the M&P and XD are parts availability SA has a great warrenty on all thier firearms, h/w, they wont release any XD parts to the public--you have to send your firearm to em for all repairs and parts replacement now, i love XDs, but a buddy of mine has had to send his XD9 back TWICE, both times b/c his safety spring broke (1st time: wore out and he wanted a refinish job), but the second time, it just failed anyways, SA would NOT send him the .50cent spring to replace himself, instead, he has to pay fedex $40 to overnight his XD for a lousy spring ![]() so, i guess my point is, parts wise, Glocks own both SW and SA for do it yourself guys shootability: i'm faster w/ the glock, but i prefer shooting the XD; M&P just didnt click w/ me, but it was a nice gun ETA: i'd get the Glock |

I went with a G19 over the Springfield XD and I finally got a chance to take the 19 out to the range today. I ran 100 rounds of blazer brass 9mm without any issue at all, and I had absolutely no problems with the G19 today. Overall, I am quite pleased with my $399 CDNN pistol that ended up costing me a total of $435 after shipping and FFL fees. BTW, that CDNN "used" G19 was actually brand spanking new and still packed with the factory grease |
+1 The XD is nice, but the Glock is still overall superior, unless we are comparing the .45ACP variants. S&W M&P, no way man, IMO it falls short of both the Glock and the XD. If you're buying a 9, the Glock is still the top dog. |

Glad you spit on hippies... FWIW or my .02 worth Glocks are exremely reliable handguns. Once you get used to the Glock shooting system, you will most likely find nothing better. I own three, because I cannot own more....yet. I like the idea of point and shoot. They are simple, extremely reliable, and great handguns for the money. I carry nothing else. And if I pick up a different model, they all shoot the same. In my humble view, why screw with something that is so reliable? Learning |
+1, GLOCKS just work, you can't go wrong. You can get a Ghost connector and the reset in tiny. |
| Glock is simple and reliable. I do like the XD's, but the trigger isn't that much different. What it boils down to is practice! Any handgun is only going to be as good as the shooter. A guy in my academy class out shot everyone by a large margin and he was shooting a Ruger 9mm boat anchor. FWIW I've never polished the trigger and I don't have any trouble shooting 50/50 in qualifications. |
| The Glock is one of the most proven handgun designs in the world. The XD's track record is ok so far, but they really havent been around all that long. S&W and their newest offering is relitvely untested in terms of age. All in all I think they are all pretty good guns, Glock having a very proven track record. |

Just look at Bigbore's Torture Test! That's what convinced me and I just bought my first Glock, a G19. Bigbore's torture test If this doesn't make you a believer in Glocks then nothing will and nothing that anyone could say would otherwise convince you. |
| Don't lie to yourself. Be a man. Get the Glock. I dislike the M&P trigger, the XD has not proven itself to me or my friends as a reliable weapon when compared to the Glock. If it absolutely, positively, has to go BANG every time you pull the trigger...get a Glock. |
| I have a G19 that I've owned since 2000. I shoot it using reloads made on my Dillon 650 and have never experienced a single jam or broken part in thousands of rounds. The gun is compact yet still handles like a full size and it holds 15 rounds like most larger "wondernines". I consider it my "go to" gun when I want a sidearm on me. |
The same sort of test was preformed on an XD, by a guy who didn't initially like them, with simular results. As far as I'm concerned, the difference is negledgeable between the two of them in that respect. I sure as hell know none of my firearms are ever going to be abused that badly. XD Test |

I am something of a trigger junkie / snob. A moderately worked G19 trigger IMHO is a lot nicer than the XD. Its one of those things that you either like or dont. Personally, having some time with both, I would take my G19 any day, even with the factory trigger. I like the look and feel of the XD but it was actually the trigger pull that got me to go with the Glock....everyone has thier own preference. |
